I know I've read that a positive outlook for cancer patients increases chances of survival, so I'd think that the right outlook is key.

In general I think having the right frame of mind can help.

Unless you live in Oklahoma or something.

So much opportunity for puerile humour lost! sigh

Texas is great. smile

"Honk if you'll never get executed."

"Lethal Injection! (of speed in this car)."

"My other car was executed."

"This car is like Texas. Run on oil and kills people all the time."

Bush's nameplate MUST say:

"Werdz ir harde."

That or a bumper sticker that says:

"My daddy loves me so much he got me this job!"

I try not to give in to the sideshow if I don't have to.

Exactly-let's be Christian and loving and freely kill and execute.

I wonder if God has the number to the red phone.

"Uh...can you stop mentioning me? Thanks, that'd be great."

They can will themselves to drink a bottle of clorox. nod

But seriously, yes I think a person can gradually make themselves sick by negative thoughts.

Like in that movie "My Life" where Keaton is dying of cancer and he goes to the healer and the healer tells him he got cancer from all the hate and anger he's held inside him for so long. It's a bit far fetched but I think there might be some truth in it.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

They did an experiment (sorry very hazy on details) where a guy goes to work and everyone has to tell him "you don't look too good," or "Are you OK?" and he ends up feeling bad and going home sick - he didn't know about the experiment. So in the same way positive thoughts go a long way to health, negative thoughts would quite successfully do the opposite.

Yes very true. I was so freaked out when I was jumped on by my ex and my son taken from me that I ended up in the hospital. My heart pressure was dropping and they could not think of why it was doing it. I think it was due to what had happened to me. I just did not have what I needed to fight off anything mentally or physically. If it weren't for my friend I would have died.

Yes but it took a long time and when I did get him back we had to move out of the state away from his crazy ass dad. My son and him are in contact with each other, I just don't want him near me ever. I will never trust him ever.

didn't this theory spawn the placebo/sugarpill?

I remember reading an article where they took a group of people with some type of incurabable illness and gave a sugarpill but told them this would cure their ailment. 70% of the people recovered and showed no signs of the ailment anymore, well a couple years after the success an article was ran in a widely read magazine about their findings, some of the people who took part in the experiment read this article and went into remission. lol
