I Just Watched THX1138 Holy crap, it bored the bejeezus outta me. A bunch of bald people running around in white space trying to get away from The Man. I can see what Lucas was going for, but the tension didn't seem to communicate at all and the whole movie seemed really flat to me. Good thing Netflix also sent me a Wonderfalls disc, at least I know I like talking wax monkeys, sheesh.
I should have made this thread about Wonderfalls. Anyone dig that show? Anyone actually like THX1138? Anyone wanna bring me some pizza? Thanks.

I thought it was iconic. It was one of those movies that help redefine a genre. Before Blad Runner the future normally seemed very ...well, futuristic. But Bladrunner shows us a world in which the real comforts are still only for the rich and large corporations.

I found THX1138 to be very weird.
I seem to recall something demonic about it. I might be wrong, I saw it a long time ago around the time I was having a bit of a nervous breakdown. True story. Blade Runner is of course brilliant, but didn't have a Hollywood ending, so it didn't do that great. Brazil I really liked. Terry Gilliam is something of a genius. So this is basically a "weird, artsy movies thread" now, right? Other weird/artsy movies I like: Pi, Donnie Darko, Mullholland Drive, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Secretary.

I haven't watched it in a while, but yeah, it was slow moving for me. Interesting, though. Not something that I'd run out and see right away, but it is a cult classic. What can ya say? Lucas was a rookie.

I liked THX1138, I like dark movies like that. What I also thought was cool was how some of the same sound effects were used in Star Wars.
Blade Runner is good 2. I haven't seen or heard of Brazil, I wanna check it out though.

Blade Runner is good 2. I haven't seen or heard of Brazil, I wanna check it out though. i noticed that. i don't think it was a completely lame movie. i liked some of his visual ideas, and i liked the premise of it. it was just clearly the work of a rookie screenwriter. his writing's never been strong, he's kinda infamous for that. i just had no idea exactly how flat and plodding this movie was gonna be.
