in all the years i have had the cats for the winter this has never happened before - just days before they go back to the farm this little fucker pushed the screen out on the rear door and got out!



i thought for sure he was going to be out for the entire night because he's not the brightest cat and is a bit afraid of the dark. at the farm you have to shine the flashlight in order for him to come out of hiding.

i grabbed the food pail and set out around the front of the house - checked the neighbors yards all the while calling "kitty" (he knows he's a cat now... for the first few years he wouldn't come when called) and then down the back alley.

all the while i'm thinking of the "what if's"

i come around the block wondering how fruitful i will be considering his fear of the dark - all the dogs in the neighborhood are barking because i'm out calling "kitty" so i'm sure he's long gone...

then there he is - bless him - comes down off of someone's doorstep - his heart beating pretty fast too. i have never been so happy to see that little scrap of fur
