Yeah, the media sucks.I hate some of the statements comin' out of the Vatican though. They gave him last rites but now, last rites are for the sick, too. I guess they said this when they didn't want people to know how truly sick the guy is/was. rolleyes

Well...how else would you have it...I wrote my father's eulogy while I was on my way home on the airplane and in the hospital by his bed.

When you know the end is near you begin to reflect compassionately and do your best to say it in the fashion he would love and admire in his honor.

I've worked in TV and they have had these in the can for years now...adding on and reediting when they see fit. It's not as heartfelt and compassionate as your situation.

Anxiety

most of the big media - your USA todays, your networks, etc. - have lots of obituaries ready to go at the drop of a heartbeat. i think we'd be surprised at some of the folks they have obits ready to go for.

pesonally, i don't see anything wrong for it. it's proactive. it doesn't mean anything, and the public isn't meant to know about the prepped obits until they're needed. would we rather they slap together something unprepared and rushed? i think it's a good thing.

Fauxie

I loved 'Brass Eye', a media satire, which went to a mock advert break only to interrupt with the Channel 4 news report that “The broadcaster and entertainer Clive Anderson has been shot dead by television host Noel Edmonds at his house in Cornwall this evening.”
