Internet anonymity

Get yourself one or more hotmail accounts, you don't have to put in accurate name and address information on a hotmail account. Then use those accounts to register on whatever forums you wish to post on. They'll still be able to tell what country and region you are in by your IP address (if they can be bothered) but at least they won't know who you are. There may also be ways of masking your IP address, but if there are, I don't know them.

You can visit the site through a proxy. If you do a search for anonymous proxies, you can usually find a list of them. Then its just trial and error to find one thats still working, and of a reasonable speed. You'll notice, however, that pages will load much slower when doing something like this, so only use it when you need to.

In Internet Explorer, go to...

Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings

Remove the check mark from the following, if they are checked:

"Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script"

Add a check mark to:

"Use a proxy server..."

And plug in the IP addres and port # of the proxy. Then close down all open Internet Explorer windows, then re-launch it. If you are unable to access any web pages, the proxy isn't working. Pick another one. When you're done, go back to your connection settings, and restore it to the way it was before, and re-launch your browser.

There are also programs such as "Complete Anonymous Web Surfing" that can automate alot of this for you. Just be sure to read the instructions.

Hiding behind a proxy isn't 100% safe, but it's an extra layer of protection.
