Are you ready for the latest incarnation of Batgirl?

My favorite character in the Batman universe is getting a new debut on "The Batman."

Producer and art director Jeff Matsuda based the Batgirl character's design on the '60s live-action Batman series, especially the striking purple hue made famous by Yvonne Craig.

I was dreading the inclusion of her in this show.

I thought they were going to base her on the silly "Cassandra Cain," recent comic book version of Batgirl. Which I was never impressd with. Can't bring myself to read those books.

She is Barbara Gordon, Commisioner Gordon's daughter. Glad to see they are sticking to her true origin.

I agree. I've never cared for the new Batgirl. I respect DC for not undoing Barbara's paralysis (gives it a dose of reality), but to me she will always be the one, true Batgirl. Cassandra's kinda boring by comparison.

barf UGH!!! I almost forgot about that annoying little ripple in the DC Universe. I tried to forget about it, but I did not care for that story arc at all.

I still see Batgirl as BADASS as the animated series made her out to be.

I do as well, but I respect that DC didn't "undo" it once it happened. She dealt with her injury, and still helped Batman out as Oracle. Most of the time, comic character's injuries are quickly healed, with no real repercussions.

Still, I much prefer the animated series' continuity with her eventually following in her father's footsteps.
