Ugh! Visa runs! Anybody else have this burden every few months? Today I'm taking the bus down south to the Thai/Malaysian border. I only have to cross over and back and get the necessary stamps as I have a one year multiple entry visa, but it must be a good 14 or 15 hours each way on the bus.
Why am I choosing this option? Well, I've been by train to Laos several times, by car to Cambodia, by train to Malaysia, and I thought I'd give this a try, but now I'm wondering if I should just have taken the plane to Malaysia or Singapore now that flights are so cheap. Good thing about these countries is that I don't need to pay for a visa to get in, unlike with Laos and Cambodia. Plus Cambodia is just creepy around where the immigration offices are. Last time I paid corruption money to get everything processed quicker and ended up sitting on the back of a police bike and was taken a little way away to an office I didn't feel wholly comfortable being alone with them in. I must admit, I do like going to Laos as Vientiane is a fascinating place, but I would rather not have to go. In the past I paid a travel company to take my passport and do everything for me, but this is more expensive and potentially more risky. I do always get a company to stand in line and submit my documents in Malaysia when I actually apply for a new visa though. Wouldn't dream of waiting around like that anymore! So does anyone else here have to do visa runs? What have your experiences been?

Just checked 'my org' and saw someone had posted on it. That alone was enough to make me feel justified in bringing back a crap thread.

No, I don't have this problem, but I do look at thousands of visas per day as part of my job.

Who are u lambasting now for their damned alternate thoughts?
While you are not "lambasting" them for their alternative thoughts, but what is this you just did for those the "choose" not to live abroad or out of the country. You know, I respectfully will debate you on anything but do not ever think you can come across to me or anyone else as being this wholier than thou man, as I have just seen that you are not without sin and thus cannot caste a singe stone brotha! ![]() The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.
