It was fucked up. In the "confrontation" part of the show, the ultra Christian republican wife (a Black woman in an interracial marriage) suggested her "concern" about having a gay woman in her house w/ her daughter neutral & that the gay couples' home isn't right to raise a child in b/c it's an inappropriate environment. She objected to their daughter being taken to gay places of business (they went to a "gay" restaurant for lunch).

The gay couple mentioned that most pedophiles/sexual predators are heterosexual White males. Also (b/c the Christian wife described them as "depraved") that there was a time when she couldn't have married her White husband b/c people thought THAT was depraved, so it's bullshit to descriminate.

It really hurt the gay couples' feelings, the gay woman who got swapped into the Christian house was crying, really offended that the conservative woman insinuated she'd harm her daughter when she has an adopted daughter of her own & would never dream of harming a child.

In the end when they reveal what's learned by each household you could tell the Christian woman & her husband were the only ones who hadn't grown or learned a thing. Their revelation was that they "love each other more than ever!" ill

It was a fucked up show. When are people gonna learn that it's more important to raise a child in a loving household than one w/ no other requirement than there be a man & a woman?

While I agree w/ the Christian woman that an 8 year old shouldn't watch pg-13 movies, that's a parenting issue, not a gay parenting issue. And the conservative's kids never got to have ANY fun, it was the stiffest household I've ever seen.

It was fucked up neutral

That's sad, but I assume both sides knew what they were getting into ahead of time? I'm not a watcher of the show because I think it's ridiculously sexist anyway

However, I do think that it takes more than just a loving home to raise I child. I was raised by a single mother and even though she was loving, there was something lacking that has affected me as an adult. I think children should have strong male and female figures growing up. I'm not saying gay people shouldn't raise children, but I do think a child should have both male and females models that aren't just "friends of the family" or a neighbor. This is, of course, coming from the point of view of someone who had one parent

My dad died when I was 6 years old, and my mom has never remarried. So obviously, I was raised in a one-parent household as well.

I haven't lived in the same house as a male (oddly enough, even all our pets have been girls) for nearly 14 years, but I don't think I've suffered or missed out in any way. I see the gender of whoever raises the kids being pretty much a non-issue, as long as they do their best to raise the kid right.

I'm not sure but I have a feeling they don't know what the family is like until they get there. Somebody called & told me to turn to it, otherwise I don't watch it. Too many fucking reality shows...

Well there's always circumstances, but I feel like the dynamic in the home has to be the important factor, not the sex of the parents. It's great to have both sexes as role models (good role models) no matter what. There's too many fucked up "heterosexual" homes to have that be the criteria, it's gotta be about the people involved.

I watched it...and it broke my heart for the gay couple... sigh but, I have to say that if one good thing came out of it at least the world got to see, first-hand, just how ignorant and hateful some people are when it comes to gay folks.

that point is very true nod

my kids and i watch that show every week, but, this week lead to some serious questions in my house. my youngest, 7, said 'what does gay mean ?' so, i explained that to her... my oldest, 10, asked me if i would still love him the same if he were gay disbelief

aside from almost crying just for the fact that he would even feel the NEED to ask that question... i looked him in the eyes and said, 'sweetheart, i dont care WHO you bring home, man, woman, black, white, purple, green, whatever.... i will always love you, and i promise to love whoever you bring into our family. the only person i will not accept is one who doesnt treat you with all the love and respect you deserve.' he looked at me, thought about it for a minute and said... ok momma

but, the point is.. it is incredibly sad that even a CHILD the age of mine feel that they have to hide who they are just to fit into this world. now, i dont think my son is gay... which by the way wouldnt be a problem for me at all... but, i do think he wonders sometimes about how to fit into the world, and how others judge him. the black woman on this show had to be one of the most fucked up people i have seen in a LONG time... i hope after she watched the show she thought long and hard about just how cruel she was to these women.

I was tipped-off to watch this show as well.

For a moment I had hopes for the christian-wife, but I was clearly wrong. Her ignorance was astounding. As for her husband, he seemed to be without a soul or a voice. Early in the show he emphasized that although he felt same-gender relations were against his belief that his church emphasized the need to treat all people with respect. Later he said some nice things to the lesbian about her influence in the house. I had some hope for him too. Then, he left his wife be SO disrespectful and downright MEAN to the lesbian couple at the end of the episode disbelief It was truly sickening.

The ONE good thing I pulled from the episode was that the christian kids seemed to enjoy the lesbianlady and respond well to her. None of them seemed to be "against" her. Hopefully that experience will help them to be more tolerant as they grow-up and come to their own conclusions about these issues...

I missed this episode. Heard the promos tho. I know several people that were raised in gay households, both sets of children basically being abandoned by their mother because they were fucked up and doing their own thing and they were raised by their fathers and their father's partner. These have been some of the most well rounded, loving, beautiful people I have ever met.

I think any child can benefit from role models of both genders and think that children should have both their parents, but only if it's healthy. My mom used to cry about how she wished my dad never divorced her and I pointed out the fact that it would not have been better for him to stay if us children were only going to watch him beat her up all the time. In that instance, having a male around is not beneficial.

Naked, I'm glad you can talk honestly with your children like that. Making them feel safe in your love no matter what will go a very long way in determining what kind of people they become hug

I am writing this to say ONE thing...

Don't judge christians by that show or by that woman

I watch it every week and they always take the most extreme christians and I cringe every week when I think that THIS is what America is seeing as what a christian is..

now, I am NOT going to lie, I question the gay issue (if it's DNA, or what) and I question whether u should b able to marry and all the other hot topics.(question as in, is it wrong or will we look back and think how stupid it was to question it.. as in slavery, civil rights and such) But know this..

I really don't care who you sleep with and as I will judge u as a person, not on the "gay" issue. U would be welcome in my house and I would hang out and have drinks and NEVER think twice about it.

It is NOT for me to judge, as long as you don't judge that I LOVE Jennifer Garner WAY too much..(ask my wife)

In short, I guess it's past that..

understand there are plenty of christians out there that DON'T hate gays!!

I hope most of us know not to judge ANY group by how they are portrayed on TV. These "reality" shows always go for the extreme.

That being said, I'm sure the mindset shown by the christian woman on the show is common in some circles. Hopefully the show made some people think...

which is why you should remind them "judge not lest ye be judged" the next time you hear one of your brethren denegrating the gay community. The church can only be changed from within on this issue by believers who will stand up to ignorance and hate when they see and hear it.

OH MY GOD!!! Thank God I wasn't the only one watching this show. Before I forget Naked you ROCK!! People like you give me hope for the future.

My whole problem with the issues on the show was the fact that the straight mom basically called the lesbian mom a sexual predator. Just because the lesbian mom spent the night in a house where a teenage girl was doesn't mean that she was going to rape her. I was sooooo offended by it. This whole thing tore me up. I don't have a problem with the straight couple's issues because they have a right to their opinion.

I was wondering if anybody caught what the lesbian mom said when she was leaving. She basically told the three kids not to be afraid to be themselves. She subtley looked at the tallest one of the kids right in the eyes. My gaydar had gone off on the tall boy and I think hers did too. I was watching it with my cousin, and her girlfriend. We all caught it. Was it just us?

I also thought that the straight woman's husband shouldn't have compared her to a diamond that he wanted to possess and have with him all the time. It sounded possessive to me not romantic. It almost made it seemed like he owned her.

Another thing that bugged me was that the straight woman was obviously intelligent but still ignorant.

Man I wish I had you for a mom!!!! You are truly a wonderful human being!!!!!

I taped it because I got home late..I watched it twice and cried my eyes out when the gay wife said 'Why do people like you always judge people like us?'...the Christian lady was horrible. She was not going to see past her ingorance in any way, shape or form. It was obvious that her husband is afraid of her and did not want to jump in and get ripped a new ass.

It really pissed me off that she unleashed her wrath on these people who seemed very welcoming and initially thought she was cool. The scene in which she went off on the gay woman in HER OWN LIVING ROOM about 'You can pretend to not be gay' drove me nuts....in that moment I would have thrown her ass out of the house with that stupid tiara. She could not see that the daughter had a beautiful life and it was cleard how loved she was.

It was cool to see that the other kids were cool with the other wife...she was really laid back and fun...I hope they learned the meaning of tolerance and could see just how sheltered they really are.

I hope viewers saw this and learned how horrible some 'God fearing' people can really be. There's nothing wrong with having Christian faith. It was this particular woman and she was a testament of how many conservatives can be....just plain hateful and judgemental....I wonder if God approves of that!

and as terrible as that lady is (as an example of christian love) there are as many terrible examples of gay folk that hate me the minute I say I am a christian...
