House of Wax Trailer The Vincent Price remake of House of Wax is one of the very best horror films ever made, so I'm glad they decided to trash it with this remake. Granted, I've not seen it yet (obviously), but this looks terrible! It doesn't look to have any similarities to the original. They movie makers decided to go for a real character actor and actually decided to hire a lump of wax - Paris Hilton - to play a real person.
The trailer is now up online at the Apple Web site. "This is a house of wax. It is wax, literally!" Someday soon, a good horror film will eventually find its way into theatres. [Edited 2/25/05 6:07am]

Here's the working link: http://www.apple.com/trai...se_of_wax/
With a cast like Elisha Cuthbert, Paris Hilton, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Van Holt (?), and Jared Padalecki (??) above the title, how can it be bad?

BTW this is almost an EXACT remake of Tourist Trap, a 1979 horror flick with Tanya Roberts (it was actually damn freaky, too). It looks like they called it House Of Wax for the name recognition. In Tourist Trap he turns them into wax dummies as well (well actually mannequins but you get the point lol). "Car troubles sideline a group of teens in the quiet town of Athelston, Iowa. Directed to the only business that can offer assistance -- a creepy gas station owned by a suave bad boy named Bo -- the stranded kids are lured deeper and deeper into Bo's web." vs. "Four people go in search of their missing friend. What they find is Slausen's Lost Oasis, and mannequin dressed museum and a seemingly abadoned mansion owned by gentle old Mr. Slausen. He agrees to help with thei car trouble, but some of the girls decide to look for a working phone inside the house even though Mr. Slausen warned them not too. Hidden within the home is Mr. Slausen's misunderstood mask hidden younger brother. What they learn is that the mannaquins seem very much alive, or is there something much more terrifying behind the mask." [Edited 2/25/05 6:14am]

I've seen Tourist Trap, and you're right. This does look a lot like it. I see a lot of films, and some of my favorites are awful horror films. Tourist Trap is certainly that!

It's a hilarious good time. Notice how the remakes always have to one-up the original? This time it's a WHOLE TOWN of wax dummies, not just 1 out-of-the-way country museum. So it's completely unbelievable and therefore not scary in the least (ok, well, it's not like the original is *believable* but... ) [Edited 2/25/05 6:22am]

Looks like a big waste of money. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "
