There was "The Breakfast Club", of course, although that wasn't underrated...maybe slightly overrated.

That was way overrated.
I mean, come on! Emilio EstaBarf and Molly Ringworm passing themselves off as convincing "popular" TEENAGERS?

ew.

The script was campy, the music sucked, and the scenes where ever-so sure of their own "laugh factor" . I hated this movie when it first came out, and still do to this day.

It sucks.

I thought about putting this on my list and while it satisfied some of my urges at the time, I don't think it's that good. It's another hollywood pretending to be cool movie and doesn't come close to those goofy pics that I listed above, that all really hold up over time.

Me too. This thread is making me want to organize an 80s teen movie retrospective for me and my friends (well, the two that could appreciate it, that is) Whoa, these movies take me back!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. The only thing I would disagree about was the music--I used to be a big Simple Minds fan.

Pump up the Volume (1990)

This movie stars Christian Slater as a high school student who has just moved to a new city and has trouble fitting in. He starts a pirate radio station that has major effects on the community.

I didn't even know about this movie when it was released... I first saw it in 1995 or 1996 when my college played it on their movie channel (the university ran its own cable television system).
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Two words: "Teen Witch"!

This was sort of a spin off of "Teen Wolf" (same font, you'll notice). I remember Channel 7 in Detroit used to play it late at night but it's a very safe movie (probably PG). Very underestimated and cute and funny. Unfornately, it's out of print and the way video stores go around throwing out their videos (Blockbuster, which always had a dicey selection of older movies anyway), the only place to get it is online but it will cost you way too much for a video (as far as I've noticed). Glad I remembered this one.

My all time favorite 80s teen movie! Although, it is almost tied with this film:

I liked the first and second. The third was just terrible, as I remember. Didn't Kid have a new girlfriend but Tisha Campell pops up anyway to say tell the girl it's fine. They should have been together! cry

Was the third one the one that had TLC in it? That's the only one I remember...I thought it was pretty funny, but of course, that was a few years back.

I thought this movie would be good, yet despite good critical reivews, i found it boring. It is sooooo not naughty. Zach Morris was more of a rebel then ferris.....anyway i just thought it was very overated.

I love all 3 house party movies (apparantly there is 4, I just found out?)

"class act" rules too. The cover is very misleading. Nothing like what is on the cover happens. Plus Kid's hair is actually cut short quite early in the film (I think?)
