Big ups to Van Diemen's land!

thumbs up!

woot!

VAN DIEMEN'S LAND - U2

Hold me now, oh hold me now
'til this hour has gone around
And I'm gone on the rising tide
For to face Van Diemen's land

It's a bitter pill I swallow here
To be rent from one so dear
We fought for justice and not for gain
But the magistrate sent me away

Now kings will rule and the poor will toil
And tear their hands as they tear the soil
But a day will come in this dawning age
When an honest man sees an honest wage

Hold me now, oh hold me now
'til this hour has gone around
And I'm gone on the rising tide
For to face Van Diemen's land

you've done some travelling! that's cool...remind me to ask you all about it tomorrow nod

guys, I wasn't specifically referring just to Australia - I'd love to know how much we all know about the rest of the world and other places/cultures etc

for instance, I don't know very much about Asia or South America and other places. Over time I've learnt a lot about the USA and the UK especially but other parts of the world by watching documentaries and talking to people that have been there nod

I'm asking anyone who would like to answer if you know much about other parts of the world in general...

But I am living in Austria, so at least it happens sometimes that people think I am Australian lol lol. And we have t-shirts here in Austria that say "No kangaroos in Austria" so I do feel a certain connection to Australia lol lol

Hey! I was in Vienna a few years back and nearly bought one of these very T-shirts - I have been telling people here about them and they look at me kind of weird, like "Why?"

lol So I guess people in Australia don't think they are funny lol lol.
If I were a tourist and not living in Vienna myself I would buy one myself lol.
BTW, once I ordered some CDs from the TKO Orchestra and they were sent to Australia instead of Austria eek . So it took about half a year since they finally reached their destination here in Europe lol. So everytime someone from outside Europe asks me where I am from I answer: "Vienna, Austria, Europe, not Australia"

I know australians don't bath often and they tend to not keep up their hygene.

I also know they're a friendly crowd if you don't offend their Jehova's witness traditions.

I had people from down under as colleagues. I know about beer, rugby, beer, Flying Dr's, beer, Neighbours, beer, Kylie, beer, Inxs, beer and that you need to get used to that accent, but as soon as you do, you'l be 'mate-in' everybody.

Ooh. And beer , mate.

Ooh, and every Ozzie guy gets gay after a certain amount of beers. They don't even need to pass out while acting out either!
