Coupling

I just saw this BBC version of Friends and it is hilarious! Did this come AFTER friends or before? The US has been stealing a lot of great show ideas from the UK, which is why I ask. I stopped watching Friends forever ago, and coupling seems a lot funnier to me. Is anyone else a fan?

It came AFTER Friends and before the awful US/NBC adaptation.

I love the UK version. I've picked up seasons 1-3 on DVD. GOOD STUFF!

Coupling was a great show. It's a bit less now but in the past there
used to be the most hilarious episodes.

My personal favorite, at which I laughed so hard I peed in my pants,
was the one where Jane invites her psych to dinner with all of the
friends together.

The discussion centers around the fact that Suzan found a porntape
of Steve in the vcr, "Lesbian Spank Inferno".

Jane cutting the meat and making sheep noises just cracked me up so
badly. I kept watching it over and over again and it kept making me
laugh like a nutter.

Oh my God, finally someboady mentioned THE VICAR OF DIBLEY. I love that show. I've only seen a couple of episodes but I think it's out on dvd here in the U.S. I am also a fan of COUPLING. I downloaded a bunch of episodes initially and I just couldn't get enough. The American version was AWFUL!!!!! I don't know what it is about British humor. It's just very intelligent I guess.

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are genius!

Hey girl,

we sag's have lots in common don't we. Yes, I love British humor. I also love British film. I love the whole Merchant Ivory thing. My two favorite actresses in the whole wide world are British, Emma Thompson and Judy Davis. There's also this really hilarious and dramatic actress, I can't think of her name, but she starred in VERA DRAKE and was nominated on the Golden Globes.

No, I wish. I meant Sagitarians.
The closest I got to that was being an extra in the worst movie ever. MAD CITY. It had Dustin Hoffman, Blythe Danner, John Travolta, Alan Alda and some other people. It filmed in San Jose, Ca. It was fun but tiring. Very "hurry up and wait".

I'm a fan worship It's occasionally aired here in Belgium, too bad they always program it close to midnight.

The stage is definately, in my eyes, a lot more difficult. I admire you. Break a leg and all that. I can't act out of a paper bag. I'm kind of funny though. Oh well, in my next life.....

That film shot in freezing weather from 4pm to 4am for 2 days. I got paid $160, not bad huh. I was a boom mike operator for a fake news crew. I haven't even rented the movie to see if I got any screen time. My dad did and swears that he saw me.

Man, I'm surprised with the U.S. plaudits we have here for U.K. sitcoms smile

Is this universal in the States?

SENIK!!!
I can't speak for other parts of the US, but I'm right across the lake from Canada and we get tons of British programs. Most of them are a little older like Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances. But we also get the Kumars at No42 and Peep Show.My whole family can quote almost every episode of Red Dwarf by heart...kind of sad when you think of it. lol
I like the dramas too. The U.K. version of Touching Evil was brilliant, the Americans ruined it when they remade it.
