The Power Of Now

have any of you read this book or heard any of Eckhart Tolle's teachings?

i'd love to hear what you thought about it, or what you've gained from it.

I've read it several times. My therapist suggested I use it as my bible.
There's definately a lot good stuff in my opinion but I'm so hardwired to dwell on the pass and stumble through the wreckage of my future to have much use for his suggestions. But I am trying my best to use his ideas and live one day at a time and all that. But, he does make a lot of sense. The book reminds me of the Ani DiFranco song, "Phase," when she sings: "My distractions are my defense against my lack of inspiration, against this slowly deflation and the further the horizon the more it holds my gaze and the foreground is out of focus..."

I attend Alanon meetings, I did the 3 day "LandMark Forum" and I'm a big fan of Joseph Campbell, which all made Eckhart Tolle's philosophy not as strange.

great - i'm glad somebody has given this a shot. to be honest, when i first listened to the book on tape, i was struggling with a lot of what he says. much of it made sense, but i had a hard time grasping the entire concept.

since then, i've listened to "Living a Life of Inner Peace", which is a recording of one of his presentations. in it, he uses a lot of humor and anecdotes to explain his teachings, and it's made the original "Power of Now" more accessible to me. you may want to try that one as well.

i have not heard of Joseph Campbell, but i'll definitely check him out - thanks for the info! thumbs up!

good luck to you in your journey! hug
