as an employer myself i have very little tolerence to people who call in sick for daft things like colds or headaches in my opinion this an excuse for a hangover or just too lazy to get out of bed.if you can get out of bed and make a cup of tea in my opinion you can haul your ass into work.as for doctors appointments....use your own time for that.

Damn!! I dont want to work for you. eek You obviously have never had a migraine...it is impossible to work. Anyways, I work for public sector. If you have sick leave on the books, you can take it. They really can't question you about calling in sick if you earned the time. That's the working policy. I do believe somewhere in the regs is if youre gone more than three consecutive days, they can require a note from the doctor stating it is alright to come back. I have it pretty damn good compared to some of you. And to make you a little more jealous lol ...if you get sick on your vacation.. you can use sick days for the number of days you were sick/go to the doctors, etc.

There's a government policy called FMLA,Family Medical Leave Act put into law by the Clinton Administration. It protects your job & pays for your medical benefits up to 12 full weeks if you need to take time off for yourself or if you have to take care of a relative, have a pregnancy, etc. Contact your Human Resources for more info..

i've had migraine a few times and had to call in sick myself.i'm talking about pisstakers who call in with a runny nose or a hangover and leave the rest of the workforce/team to deal with the disruption to clients.as for doctors appointments it doesn't take all bloody day to see the gp!do it in your lunch hour if you're lucky enough to get one.
