At last!!! I got a new computer!!! (question included) after long last, i found and bought a brand-new computer last saturday. it only cost me about $400, which is a bargain considering all the stuff the pooter has...it's similar to this pooter, same brand and everything. now i can watch all my dvds and make more graphix on it. it'll be a bit before i'm back online from home, tho'.
now for my question: how do you take audio samples from a dvd so you can put them to use on your computer (i.e. startup and shutdown sounds)? my pooter has PowerDVD on it, if this helps any...thanx in advance!

'fraid I haven't got a clue - can you copy the separate media files from the DVD through powerDVD and get the sounds that way? Your 'puter looks nice though. I've been REALLY wanting a but the price tag might put that on hold for a while. All those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand...

Hey fellow Sag, I know of a really cool program that let's you copy any audio (internet, from DVD or any source on your computer) and it's cheap. It's called TOTAL RECORDER. I bought it for PC, check on the web to see if they have it for MAC. It cost me $12. It's easy to install and easy to use. Let me know if you get it. You gotta "rip" the dvd (copy it to your hard drive), then convert the files to a useable format such as an AVI or an MPEG. Some programs such as ImToo DVD Ripper, will allow you convert just parts of the DVD, not the whole thing. Depending on what program you are using to rip the DVD, some will allow you to export audio only. If not, just take the exported video clip, and bring it into a video editing program such as Premiere, and export the audio track. There are also programs such as Total Recorder, that will record whatever is passing through your sound card. So if you are playing the DVD and running this program, you may be able to capture some of the audio.

Or if you have a wav editer of I think any kind...set it to record internally.
FOr instance, I have a high end one called Cool Edit(lots of free ones out there too). I make sure that my audio is set for recording (check properties of your "speaker" icon for what it's recording)...the option I would check for my computer here is "wav out mix" (it might be called something else on your machine) as opposed to "line in" etc. So basically when I click on record in my program, it will record any internal sounds my computer is making. Then play your DVD (cue it first) and you should be able to record internally which is the action you seek (in case this doesn't work...and you seek help elsewhere, that's what you say you are trying to do). hope that helps Christian Zombie Vampires
