Internet problem!

My home page keeps getting hijacked, even when I change it back. When I go to yahoo or any place else, it goes back to the offending search engine. How in the hell do I get rid of it? It says "search for" or "about blank" at the top.

This might help.

Definitely download, install and run Ad-Aware and Spybot as Stax suggested, then download and install this:

It's anti-virus. I just found out there is a worm I never heard of on my computer.

It sounds like you got the CoolWebSearch adware. It's a pain in the ass to remove because it will keep reinstalling itself everytime you reboot.

There are many variants of this program, so some of the previous tools to remove it (such as CWSshredder), or manual removal instructions may not work.

SpyBot Search & Destroy will remove it, but its a two-part process. You install it, then check for the latest updates and install those too. Then do a complete scan of your system with it, and it will detect it and remove some of it. Then you need to reboot, and right before Windows finishes launching, Spybot should come up again, and do another scan, and remove the rest of it.

Once you get it removed, you might also want to try the "Immunize" feature of Spybot, as well as another freeware program called Spyware Blaster, that can help block you from even being able to access certain sites that are known to install such stuff.

Thanks, Tom. I'll try this too. It doesn't seem like anything is working yet.

Sorry, that's all I got. Not much of a tech head, myself. If your using MS Internet Explorer, may want to switch to Firefox http://www.mozilla.org/. It's an elegant browser and it's said to be secure, more so than IE anyway.

You should contact your service provider...or actually...reboot your computer, and see what happens, sometimes your computer is just havin a bad day, and sometimes the lines are just busy (could be an unexpected influx of internet traffic!!) if it doesnt calm down, call your service provider nod they will tell you what you need to do to fix it!!
