papaa said: And what of the plot turns in M. Night Shyamalan's films such as The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable - where do those rate?
They were both predictable, The Sixth Sense in particular as it was quite obvious from the start that no one but the boy reacted to Bruce Willis' presence. The restaurant scene in particular was a giveaway. No, I think Urbania had the best twist ever! Everyone's confused - why would hot stud pursue straight creep when he had hot lover? And then, shock! Gasp! Suprise! Hot stud wants to kill straight creep because straight creep killed hot stud's hot lover. That was a twist that no one saw coming until that final car ride. Those last minutes are extremely painful to watch. I still can't do it without getting all choked up by all the pain and misery hot stud suffers through... FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Good thread.
* Janet Leigh getting iced so abruptly in PSYCHO was a good twist. * I'm embarrassed to say THE SIXTH SENSE or THE OTHERS got me, but they did. (Though THE OTHERS generally sucked.) * Edward Hardy's character being sacrificed by the pagans at the end of THE WICKER MAN messed me up. * The title character of LAURA, thought dead, suddenly appearing alive was a nice twist. * Sho Nuff having "the glow" before Bruce Leroy in THE LAST DRAGON was downright devastating! * The whole "hand of God" thing in THE FORGOTTEN blew me away too. * Glenn Close committing suicide in the unreleased version of FATAL ATTRACTION would have been a wild twist. * Armand's character getting smoked at the end of the softcore porn flick BLACK VENUS was a hurtful surprise... Well it was actually kinda funny and predictible. But he was too fine to die. ...Hmm. I'll think of more. [Edited 1/8/05 13:05pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

"Obi One never told you the truth about your father"
"He told me enough. eeehh heheeeee aaaaggghh. eeeeeh heeheeeee ahhhgggh uhhhgh ugggh..--- He told me U killed him!" "No.... I... am.... your....father." Shit hit the fan in the movie theatre that night I have to agree with U. That's probably #1 . [Edited 1/8/05 15:15pm]

Bridge to Terabithia. Although not made into a box office hollywood movie yet, was shocking. I would have never thought one of the main children would die so suddenly in the creek--it was awefully sad.

this is tangential, but the movie 'hannibal' ended differently from the way the end of the book was written. it surprised me in that regard, and i'd been disappointed by the book's ending, so i liked the movie ending much better
