Ambition

How ambitious are you? When there's a goal in sight, what would you or wouldn't you do to get there?

I've read about Madonna for instance, stepping on people on her way up the ladder. Other famous people too.

Personally I've never been able to understand such ruthless behaviour.

I've encountered these people at work, and it aint pretty.

What are your views?

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious, I am. I'm talking about what you would or wouldn't do in the pursuit of a goal.

I am not ambitious at all!! I just lack the wherewithall 2 do anything 2 better myself and advance in life or even a career!!

The thing is, my IQ is verging on being genius, but I just dont have the drive in me 2 do anything about it!! I always feel worthless or incapable of doing anything!! Or that I am not qualified enough or I am gonna fail!!

People on here cant understand why I dont have a job or anything, and even I cant understand it myself, but people just dont know what I go through deep inside!!

I wish things were totally different!! sad sad sad

I don't have any ambitions other than to be happy. I don't really care about money or possessions, just so long as I've got enough to get along.

My IQ is 148 which is above-average but not genius level. I think that stupid people progress through life with less hassle because like Lennon said: "living is easy with eyes closed".

I'm abitious but not at the expense of others. If I want something than I'm determined to work hard and get it. I don't cheat. I didn't win my work's 'employee of the year' for nothing and I'm of the view that rather than be pleased that the people and management of my current respect and think highly of me, personally I feel it adds a sprinkle of gold dust to my C.V.

I'm ambicious, but I mosly care about others more than myself. I try not to step on anyone. I'll be the last one to push my way in, I let time do it's course.
But if I truly believe this is what I want, I never give up.

I'm very ambitious. But I don't need to step on other people to get what I want; that's for fools.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I have incedible ambition and drive that has nothing to do with money or career.
I think I have finally purged myself of thoughts of career once and for all and I am happier for it.
For a year or so my ambition has been battling my own inertia which various events have brought on and it can be frustrating.
The various projects I do is how I exspress my ambition.
Currently I am
Looking into opening a food stand (still in very iffy stages)
Looking into purchasing a porsche 912 to fix and sell
Painting and redecorating my kitchen
Restoring a 1961 motorbecane moped
planning a sportster chopper
building a metal batmobile model

Those are the pressing things.
Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there
When silhouettes fall

That's kinda how I am... The things I find myself wanting like travel, entertainment, friendships, I work for and always seem to attain. Career-wise, I've just kinda gone along with the flow and found things I can tolerate while moving ahead when the opportunities arise. (And often that's been very quickly. I've had 6 differnt positions in the 8 years I've worked where I'm currently working...) But this has gotten me a bit stuck. I'm finally at a point where I'm really disappointed in my job, don't really have a logical next step at my company and am not quite sure what my next step should be. I'm on the precipice of what could be a major change, or I could just continue to drift... I'm scared to make that change, cause I'm afraid of losing the bit of financial freedom I've gained. And really, it's not even that much. I'm certainly not even close to wealthy, but I'm happy with what I make, it affords those little things I mentioned earlier, whether that be a new outfit one month, or a trip to Amsterdam with a few months notice. But then I see people who are doing the things they love, helping people, knowing exactly what they contribute to the world through their work and I get a little jealous. I wanna be that happy 40-60 hours a week. So I gotta do some more thinking and deciding.
So, yeah, sometimes I'm a little short on the ambition-side. lol

i think ambition is healthy. here is an extremely condensed version of the wiccan code:

An it harm none, do what you will.

my ambition is to get a song on the charts. only...I don't sing, have never written a song, can only play most instruments badly... just like madonna, really. Only I guess I am not as ambitious as her when it comes to sucking wienies, will have to do it some other way then.

I'm very ambitious as well...but, I've NEVER stepped on another person to get where I am. There's no need. However, I have been stepped upon by others who were incompetent and it's one of the most horrible things that a person can experience on a professional level.
