PrintableAnxiety said: i was forewarned to be at home this afternoon because my secret santa present was supposed to be delivered at noon today, but i stuck around until 2pm and nothing ever showed up. it's not my SS's fault - it's a crazy week for mail and the post office sucks, to boot.
this has been a very schadenfreude christmas for me - the first year in ages where i'm actually feeling the holiday spirit, and every damn thing that could go wrong is going wrong. the flight to my mom's house for christmas weekend looks like it'll probably be canceled. my job has displayed a memorable level of grinchy heartlessness to us all this year. there's been a really troubling illness in my family lately. the only good things about christmas this year have been my friends - the best a guy can have - and my boyfriend, who has made this winter so ridiculously, amazingly, astoundingly fun and special. and really, that's all i or anyone should need. it just amazes me that the rest of the world seems to be going to shit this holiday season. i blame bush. why not? sorry if this was an inappropriate rant for this thread, and when my SS gift comes it'll cheer me up considerably, as will christmas with my family and my first new year's with my sweetie - but it just seems so weird that the first year that i'm not completely cynical and jaded about christmas, it feels like the people around me - at least where i live - can't really be bothered with being kind on the holidays. i think next year i'm gonna take a vacation during christmas week so folks can be all grinchy without me having to be part of it.  Why not indeed.  
I know. People become royal bitches this time of year. 
But still. Those years when xmas feels real and beautiful are really cool. I hope you can hang onto that for a couple more days.  | |

well, i gotta start out by saying that i came home to not one, not TWO, but THREE gifty parcels waiting for me...one from my best friend in NYC, with some yummy CDs in it, and another from carriempls with a deee-liteful holiday sampler, and my secret santa gifty from SUPA, just overflowing with all kinds of goodies that i can't even begin to list right now because, yes, there was JUST THAT MUCH STUFF in it! i'm still freaking out a little, so when i have a chance to settle down a bit, i'll go into a bit more detail.
and on top of it all, tonight is prince night at berlin, and i'm meeting TOFKA there in just a couple hours! 
my trip was a little delayed and annoying, but it could have been much worse. i had an overall peaceful visit with the fam, though i'm very VERY happy to be home. oh, and uh - oh yeah! my mama got me the pee-wee's playhouse box sets for xmas! PLUS, i was able to root through some of my vinyl from when i was a wee tot, and i was able to lug home my vinyl wreckas of emo phillips, the time, krush groove and....oh my GOONISS....LENNY AND THE SQUIGGTONES!!!
