When Is It Too Many Piercings?

Most pierced : Elaine Davidson, the most pierced
woman in the world, shows off some of her 2,520
piercings at the 50th anniversary of the Guiness
World Records in London . (AFP/Nicolas Asfouri)

eek THAT is definitely too many.

That said, I luuuurve body piercings. Some look goofy with them, but most people can find a something that'll look gorgeous on them!

A good site with information on tattoos, piercings, and other bod mods is: www.bmezine.com

Wow. mr.green

I love piercings. Unfortunately, my body doesn't really appreciate then. My earlobes were hard to heal, my upper ear cartilidge piercings were a nightmare (took them out), my nipple piercings rejected (took them out; will redo them when I can afford it), and I'm currently rehabilitating an angry tragus. The only piercing I've ever had go well was my first tragus.

Despite that, I'm gonna redo those nips and I'd kinda like to do my belly button. I'd like a lower lip, but I'm too afraid of scarring on my face.

I actually see Elaine parading around Glasgow quite often. She's certainly not your average Glaswegian. Funny biscuit but her crumbs are worth more than most people's cake. Of course, she's mentally ill and should be locked up for her own good. It's funny when she shouts at the pigeons, though. Figure of fun. Wasted life. Or maybe she's more alive then any of us. Still wouldn't shag her though.

2,520 piercings? It seems to me that the aftercare would be a serious burden. Also, I wonder what kind of stress that type of piercing activity would place upon the body's immune system.

Anyway, here's what I've got:

  • Left earlobe (1994... done at a mall kiosk with a piercing gun, before I knew better)
  • Navel (1995)
  • Right nipple (1995, removed 1997 due to healing trouble, repierced 2002)
  • Tongue (1996, removed 1997... too bad, as it was done by legendary piercer Jon Cobb, but I chipped a molar on the jewelry and decided that the risk of future injury wasn't worth it)
  • Left nipple (2002)
  • Right earlobe (2003... this time done the proper way, by a professional piercer)

There may be no more piercings for me in the future, due to professional concerns. I've now entered the world of tattooing, as I have a symbol (no, not the prince symbol) inked on the back of my neck. (Collared shirts and turtleneck sweaters cover it for professional situations.) However, I expect that if I get additional ink in the future, it'll happen more slowly... tattoos cost more, involve more of a commitment, and require a lot of time to come up with a suitable design (I refuse to pick "flash" art off the studio wall).
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

i only have my ears and belly and that's enough for me.

i do have to say that even though i would never ever want to be as pierced as that lady, i do think that she looks beautiful in a strange way. i could do without the finger through the tongue though. that's a bit much.

Besides my ears, I only have my "hood" pierced right now, and I love it. I'll always keep it, it feels amazing. I took the tongue ring and navel ring out because they just kinda got old. I also had my nipple pierced (just the right one, like JJ, lol) but I took it out because it started to "reject" a little (nasty, huh?), so I had to let the piercing close to avoid a nasty, deformed nipple thing goin' on later on. lol
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

Yes. A stud on the tongue just adds a little more variation and - as we all know - when it comes to touch, variety is the spice (unless you're getting near "completion", in which case don't you dare change what you're doing, or I'll kill you, motherfucker! lol ).

Eh to each their own. But personally, I don't need a stud to make the experience better razz I gots my own skills and secrets! lol

I'm sure you do. wink I guess there's also something visually appealing about a tongue piercing. It's probably the same reason we find certain other body modifications a turn-on; they're signifiers.

Me too! And only one hole per ear too. I wouldn't pierce any other body part except for perhaps my nose, but that would be it. It's so disgusting to see piercing such as this.
