How the heck do these e-mails filter in?

I used to think you only got these e-mails when you visited these type of sites and submitted your e-mail address. Well I KNOW I HAVE NOT. So how do these companies get away with spaming e-mail accounts daily with this unwanted (from me anyway) material?

I used to reply with a message like "Hey, I'm only 10 years old, I don't think I'm ready to see that kind of stuf"

But I think that only fueled it.

Just seems like this should be regulated a little more better. How will I keep my children from getting these? Several years ago I got rid of several e-mail accounts when I started with a new internet provider and I have not seen any of this for about 2 years. Now, just over the last few weeks, they have been filtering in even with the spam blocker.

Now I build websites for people and I usually create an "admin" or webmaster account for my customers that get directed to me for all things concerning the status of the site. If one of my customers finds this material interesting and visits these sites, would that effect the admin or webmaster account?

Is this something we are just going to have to live with or what?

Can ya block the site or maybe just gotta get a better spam blocker.

It's not a problem yet. About one a week. I just remember the AOL days from WAAAAAY back were you'd get about 300... in a day ...

Kinda felt violated. Especially when you have the auto preview feature turned on in outlook. The one that gets me are the imatation Rolex e-mails. I'm getting about 10 a week from different sites selling the same products. Imatation luxury watches. I HAVE NO FRIGGIN IDEA how I got added to their list. Go figure...

Second....I'm not sure if there is any other way to stop getting these fucked up emails. I think just deleting them straight out is our best weapon. For example, I know it aint no friend of mine sending me emails when I see the following:

it doesn't have to be your 'fault' anyway. If someone has your e-mail addy in the addressbook and gets infected with spyware/virus your email is known to these spammers pretty quick

whatever you do don't reply to them (they are automated), all you will be doing is letting them know that you email address is in fact a real one

If you want to send me the link to these disgusting sites, I'll check them out for you and see if I can find a way of stopping them sending you spam.

It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.

Don't use common email addresses like "admin@...", and try using a script to hide your email address on the page from bots.

Also, have you tried using SpamBayes? Its a free spam filter that works with Outlook. If you follow the instructions carefully, and "train" it properly, it works really well with filtering out those emails.
