Why do women like men with a little bit of thuggish characteristics? Why?

Why do women pick thugs as their boyfriends and shit like that?

Why do the nice guys get dogged?

Why does this happen?

I don't understand this thug thing.

I wonder if it's the bang-bang-bang.

I think it's because women like a challenge, too, to some extent. The challenge of turning the "bad boy" into one of the "good guys". With a man that has those characteristics, it's somewhat like a game of cat and mouse. With the "nice guy"... it's usually cut and dry.

It usually isn't very healthy though, eh?

I think women like a man that they feel can protect them and some just take it a bit further and get criminals. smile j/k

I'm not saying that a nice man can't protect you but you like to see a little edginess.

The "thug" thing is no more than just the bad boy syndrome that women have had for generations. Danger is a little sexy.

You might be on something there. I also think that with bad boys the sweet things they say or do seem sweeter because it's so out of character for them. Nice guys do it more frequently so it's not that special anymore after a while.

A lot of women seem to like the cat and mouse game. They like it when a guy is being distant, non-affectionate, it drives them crazy, gets their heart racing. They think that's "passion" they're feeling.

I couldn't agree more! And, usually, if by chance the guy changes and turns into the nice guy, the girl usually drops him because at that point the game is over and she's not interested anymore.

This is my current situation. Now that he's changed it's game over.

EDIT: I should say that it isn't over simply because he's changed, but because he is a liar and is immature. However, I stuck there during those times because it was a challenge and nothing more at that point. Now that he's good, well... after the first few lies he wasn't what I wanted anymore and now that the challenge is gone, there simply isn't any reason for him to be around. So, I really did like him at one point and wasn't in it, in the beginning, for a game.

exactly. thug-type dudes are the only type of cats who hit on me, and they annoy me to death.

i've actually heard of this and i don't get it either!! one guy i was talking to said that he wouldn't be nice in relationships anymore because as soon as he started being nice in past relationships he got dropped like a hot potato. that just ruins it for the rest of us who actually are looking for a nice guy, someone who will bring us roses and open the door for us.

I think it goes the other way too. The really nice guys tend to fall for the women that treat them like crap. shrug
