I've seen it, and I really liked it. I'm really excited about the new wave of Chinese movies that are coming out since Crouching Tiger. This story is a lot more linear but is beautiful anyhow. if you liked Crouhcing Tiger, and would be interested in more of the same genre then definitely check this out.
jerkoff.....drool BULLSEYE! cool

yep It's from the same Director as Crouching Tiger...I liked it too but I agree the storyline is linear. I found it hard to follow in parts, actually, to the point where for me it detracted from the movie

it's beautifully shot, tho, and is wonderful to see

Sorry Tisse, but ANG LEE directed Crouching Tiger, HERO was directed by
Zhang Yimou, tho' both films share producers or choreographers (I think).

Anywayz, I saw it a few months ago at a film festival - very poetic and graceful, martial arts meets ballet. I could've bought it on DVD back in MAY when we stopped in SINGAPORE - the film's been around 4 ages over there, it's only now getting released in the Western world.

Glad u liked it BabySis... wink

Hey Tisse hug

I loved the choreography, and thought the story was executed really well. The striking use of color, fabric, and landscapes for each of the different parts, ensured the film was kept unmuddled and pleasing to the eye. It kinda had that "epic" feel without being too long and drawn out. Three thumbs up .. one extra for the good popcorn.

The last scene was the best. I never woulda guessed that twist at the end was coming. Ya know the part when the King announces he is really Luke Skywalker's father wink lol

o

I saw it last weekend, too, I wanted to catch it before it's off of the big screen.

I agree with speak2amy--amazing colors, perfectly draping/flowing fabrics, emotional intensity of the storyline and acting. I love the way the warriors were so honorable and followed their "code", so to speak, as well as the way both "Hero" and "Crouching Tiger" portray women as fierce and talented fighters, not just as sex objects or decoration.
