THE TRUTH!!!!

This is for all those that praise this country 2 the hilt, and I am telling u this in a respectful manner!! Yes, this country does use tax money for benefits, etc, but also it squanders a lot of our tax money as well!! Here is a rundown of what we pay in taxes and u see for yourself if all this is WAY OUT OF HAND!!!!

CAR TAX

I have just forked out £90 for 6 months car tax(£165 for one year)!! Over in the USA, in our last year there we only paid $35 for car tax and that was for a WHOLE year!! Now, by recent exchange rates, that is about £18!!! U do the math!! Can u see the difference?? Now u tell me which country is being ripped off!!!! The thing is, nothing is being done with all the tax we pay!! Theres no decent, resurfaced roads or even any NEW roads!! No improved systems!! In my mind the roundabouts here are no longer conducive for 2days sheer volume of traffic and they are so antiquated now!! They should rip out all the roundabouts and put in major traffic lights in their place and do away with all the pedestrian traffic light crossings halfway down roads and make everyone walk down 2 the major traffic light junctions and make everyone cross there, like they do in the USA!!! The thing is, everywhere we park we have 2 pay!! With all the road tax we pay u would think that parking would b FREE!!

COMMUNITY CHARGE

This tax is a total rip off!! Again, it is just being squandered!! I mean, HOW MUCH MONEY DOES THIS COUNTRY WANT????? We pay enough money out of our wages 2 cover everything this country needs, without this added burden!!!! If the USA can accomplish everything it does only on the State and Federal tax it takes out of wages, as well as Sales tax, then why cant this country????? The thing is, some of this tax is supposed 2 go on things like sewage emptying, for example, but now this service is being done by private companies of which we have 2 pay them!! But we are still paying the local governments for them 2 do this service for which they are not!!! LOL
Theres no beautiful, brand new schools here, like there is in the USA, and the same goes for hospitals!!! The hospitals here leave a lot 2 b desired!! They are not even cleaned properly and there have been cases of patients coming out sicker than what they went in!! When I went 2 visit my husband in hospital a few weeks ago, all visitors had 2 wash their hands in disinfectant before they entered the wards in order 2 stave off this Hospital Disease, basically because they are not cleaned properly according 2 medical standards, because of government cutbacks!! Also u would think that this tax would cover car parking, but NO WAY!!!!

TV LICENCE

Read my lips!! This is yet another TAX!!!!! It goes 2 the BBC, which is government-owned, so in actual fact we are taxed 2 watch TV!!!! And if we dont pay it, then a TV Detector van comes around, because they have all the non-payers on file in a computer database, and they just unplug your TV and take it away and heap on u a fine!!!

M.O.T TEST

Yet another excuse for a tax, because the Test Centers are hand in hand with the Government, and they have 2 pay the Government a certain percentage, so really its another tax!! LOL

So, u see, this government is constantly thinking up devious schemes in order 2 rape us of more tax!! I could go on and on about how this country wastes our tax money, but I will give u one example!! During the 90s a few billion pounds was spent on constructing in London a huge arena and arts center called The Millenium Dome, which was 2 b built in time for the first event of the 1999/2000 New Millenium Celebrations, hence its name, and then afterwards as a thriving entertainment complex!! Well, fast forward 4 years and its just sitting there, UNUSED, decaying and rusting away having only been used ONCE!!!! Disgusting!!!

What this country SHOULD b doing is spending some of this tax money in setting up a huge nationwide Immigration database system and really monitor who is coming and going from this country!!! This country hasnt got a clue who is here!!! There should b tighter controls at airports and sea ports and they should screen people more BEFORE they enter this country!! A case in point is my husband, who is Mexican/American!! When he first applied at the British Consulate in Chicago, he received a years Entrance Visa, and so after the first year he was here we called up the Home Office, regarding obtaining a Permanent Entrance Visa, well, the thing is, they didnt even know he was in the country!!!!LOL All, because they dont have any Immigration database here, like they do in the USA with the INS and the FBI!!! A few months ago, we wrote off 2 the US Embassy here requesting information regarding returning back, and, and we gave our names and everything and u can bet your life that even now my son and I are in the INS' System already!!!! U would think that the British Consulate in Chicago would get in touch with the Immigration people here 2 let them know that my husband was entering this country with his family!!!!! But NO WAY, that involves 2 much money!!!!! LOL

Anyway, these are just a few examples of how this country is so screwed up!!

You know, you're not going to win any sympathy here with this attitude.
You think you got it bad? Look around you:
People in Africa are starving to death.
Look at the Middle East, you think those people got it better?
Look at the hurricanes that just passed Florida? you'd rather have that?

You should be thankful for what you've got and enjoy it while you can.

I have lived in extreme weather conditions in the USA!!

-70 degrees below zero wind chill factor, blizzards, driving snow, ice storms, etc. and it made me a far stronger and tougher person in all ways and I came back 2 the UK a totally different person than I was before I went over there!!!

But at least we werent taxed upto our eyeballs!!!

Also, unlike 95% of the people in this country I DO look around me and notice the world!!! I am not a typical tunnelled-visioned Brit!!!

I dont only watch the news for football scores and the weather, like most Brits do!! And anyway, I watch either CNN or Fox News or both for a more broader aspect on the worlds news and yes, I do feel bitterly for what is going on in the world and my heart and soul goes out 2 everyone in this world suffering at the hands of governments!!!

And yes, I am grateful 2 b living in this country with relative peace and well being!! But this country would b an even more beautiful place without all these taxes and other added problems!!

I don't get it. She really doesn't realize how lucky she is with what she has.
In my country I pay 40% off my sallery to taxes.
The income is way lower than the expenses (yes, we live off overdrafts, most of us)
You get searched with metal detector wherever you go.
Since we're so far away from all the wenstern countries that we import from, we pay much more for everything. We have about 100%+ taxes on cars we buy. Not to mention 200%+ on motorcycles.
We have strikes every few weeks, and garbage is all over the roads in those times.
Suicide bombers kill many people every day.


Oh but wait...you pay a lot of taxes, yes, you got it worse.

I still love my country, and I think it's the most beautiful place on earth. I enjoy the little I have and appreciate it. Sure, when I get a chance I'll be moving to NY, but that's because there's not much work in my profession here.

Some people will always put money above everything else, I don't care about tax, i have a good standard of living, MONEY IS NOT THE BE ALL AND END ALL OF LIFE

you may be happier here if you stopped moaning and made the most of what you have. You don't like paying for TV don't watch it, simple TV is rubbish most of the time anyway, You don't like paying car tax, don't drive.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, i am proud to be british and i love britain.

When asked last week by Bill OReilly what he would do about this problem - he had no response. (maybe they should send the database down there to stop them all crossing)

- TV license PAH! Try subscribing to cable or Direct TV when you drag your miserable self back to the USA you can pay $80+ a month for a decent pacakage. I think we should look at trying to prize peoples fat lazys asses out of their cars (mentioning no names here) and onto public transport. Most homes in the USA have spetic tanks and regularly have to be emptied for which the home owner / tennant pay for.

In fact most americans whilst not being taxed up to the hilt do pay for EVERYTHING including

Health
Real Estate
Education
MOT / Vehicle Inspection
Sales Tax

You lived in the US so - do us all a favour make a balanced judgement before you spout off about the UK. Theres a lot of people who love living here - and a lot of people who want to live here (look at the people camping in the woods in Calais waiting to sneak over on the back of a lorry) If it is SO bad leave - GO - return to Nivanamerica. I dont think the reason you went to the UK was because you were tricked - more like you were broke (from living in the USA??)
