Who knows about CD players?? Just bought a CD player micro system (sony) from Ebay. The cd player SKIPS, and ive tried new cd's, and also a CD cleaner disc, and it has NOT reloved the problem.
Personally, I have never heard of or witnesses a cd player that skips, when its not the fault of the CD. Have I been swindled??? I cant think of any thing else to do. Its definately not the CD's, and like i said, the CD cleaner disc didnt work either.. Does anyone know what else I coudl do/try? Any thoughts/tips much appreciated! Might be the lense. maybe it's not in place or dirty.

Is that one of those hybrid systems that has everything intergrated into one unit? Those type of systems are notoriously unreliable! The only thing I can think of is a bad lense or maybe the unit sits on a incline.

Try to clean the lens. After that it's broken pretty much. I own 2 cd players for dj'ing and after a while, things don't work like they used to.

Ahh, u said mayby it sits on an incline... well its hanging off a shelf, incline is really slight though... i'll try it... otherwise its pretty much knackered? There seems to be no access to the lens, its a tray loading system The Tao te Ching gives advice to rulers:

i wipe a cd off with window cleaner, leave it a little damp and put it in the player, it will clean the lense, if not, you have a lemon. play it for about two minutes then take the cd out.

Actually you CAN take it back. well, depends on the sale. If it didn't say 'sold as is' and did not mention any problems, law is on your side and you can return it.

Well, it said good condition and boxed... which it was. not a mark on it. the MD player works fine, just the CD player skips. Like I said Ive never known one to do this before all by itself! It usually happens with old players. they either skip or stop reading the CDs. I suggest you e-mail the seller and let him know about it. and read the e-mail sale terms, I think you have a right to return it.
