Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

So for relaxation, you need to throw up first? is that it?

Read? Take a walk? What do you find has been your saving grace when it comes to stress? I find this quote from Taxi Driver Wisdom comes in particularly handy: "EVERYTHING COMES OUT THE SAME, WHETHER YOU MAKE IT HARD ON YOURSELF OR NOT".

Thanks... it resonates..I'm going to put it in my signature line. I have been hard on myself. I think we all do that sometimes, put up a fight even though we know we are going to lose.

Sometimes I listen to music, which usually helps.
Sometimes I read something and vedge. Most of the time though I write about it. Just kind of free form thought to get it on paper and out of me. It seems like that way at least it's something to look at and have a better idea of what's bothering me instead of feeling all over the place. Venting just helps in general-and it's not anything you're expected to show someone. I try to remember that life sometimes has to get worse to get better, and that it's all fun and games till someone loses and eye, then it's just fun you can't see. The best way to not drive yourself crazy when you're stressed (yes, even me saying this) is to keep it in perspective. Don't dwell on what's happened, try to look forward and remember you can't change what's happened, you can only try to react the best you can with what new opportunity approaches-whether it be good or bad. (Should I charge for this session?)

Read? Take a walk? What do you find has been your saving grace when it comes to stress? get meself a fifth of jack daniels and go for a loooong fast drive in the car ok ok just kidding. depends on how stressed i am. sometiems i rent a movie, jump on the stairmaster and stomp for an hour, or sit quietly and let my mind drift for ten minutes or so, or anything creative like writing, music, drawing, beading, maybe a long hot bath while reading a book, and spending time with my birds.

I find water to be very calming.
Either a swim, a dive, a bath or even a shower. Oh, and there are those little fountains that you can put on a coffee table, that the sound of the water just soothes. you. either that or drive you madly insane. Even a tank of fish. just looking at it. how calm it is. So I say water is the number one way to relax.

I listen to music, draw, read, and shop.
But truthfully I cut. Unfortunately I started to ease any type of stress or pain by self injury all the way back in junior high and never stopped. I have hobbies, like music, that distract me from stress and problems, but I never really lie back and relax, or do anything positive to handle stress. [Edited 9/24/04 19:06pm]
