he was indeed fantastic, but don't you find many of his artworks evoke depression?

You say depression like it's a bad thing. They do. But a lot of times I find them peaceful and thought provoking. Or the many layers of one person's soul. All of our souls I guess. Though I love a lot of pop/dance music, I tend to relate and find the beauty in a lot of 'darker' art. A balance of sorts. Some of his sh*t is funny as well. Just gotta open your mind a little. . That's all.

That's all. It was a joke. How so is your school like a prison? I think part of what I was trying to say as well, is there's a sense of escapism in his work. Other worldly. Fantasy and surrealism. His art definitely reveals his madness/depression; but you can see it as his longing to escape from that world as well. ยค [Edited 9/19/04 13:16pm]

I don't pretend to understand Dali in general. To me much of his art looks like self indulgent (albeit fun to look at) pretentious fantasy to me.

I was always more of a Pollock and Picasso fan, but Dali is definitely cool.
(That and Timmy Jenkins, age 8, currently writing on the living room wall with crayons.)

Incredible mind... that Dali was. Milton and I saw a great exhibition up in London... his works are endless. A bit , those are the most supreme artists to ever exist. It's their mindblowing uniqueness (dare to be their own) that makes their art stand out the most.

Dali's work is undescribable/unbelievable/incredible... although I would not be enlightened to have his mind images in my home. Greatly appreciated... nevertheless.
I love/adore Matisse's work... his bright compositions, patterning, sensualness... harmony. The beauty of the human form, life and nature... through the simplicities of line formation. His prints are the only images I have on my walls... well... that and... ~Prince ~Pictures I have taken.
