Very cute and tempting-even in "I wanna hug" mode, but they're crafty bastards.

I once knew an otter named Harold who had the ability to stitch a neon sweater that blinded the Hubble!

Harold's a mean drunk too.

I find zoos depressing. I haven't visited one since 1979.

It's not so much that the animals aren't free, it's just that they always look so sad. I don't mind animals being in (large) enclosures so long as they are comfortable, healthy and happy.

I think it was 1979 anyway. I'm not really sure... "Sunday Girl" by Blondie was in the UK Top Ten Singles Chart. I kept hearing the song all that Summer. I remember that I used to think she was singing: "I know a girl who's got smelly feet".

I was on a coach with a school trip. I hated it. The whole place smelled of shit and all the animals looked lifeless and dead.

Yes, but it's so rare to find any that WILL treat them right, so I don't like zoos in general sad

The wild part about it is, if you go on a safari in Africa, 90% of the time the animals look and act exactly like they do in zoos...lol...they lay around mostly, walk slowly...but it does indeed feel as if they're doing so by choice (or by nature), instead of by circumstance. Seeing a majestic lion laying casually in a wide-open field gives a different impression than seeing a majestic lion laying in the exact same casual manner while within a restricted confinement...

Amazes me when someone being dogged by the masses wants to dog someone else. It's as if they will feel better if they are at least "better than" that person. We all the same stop with the greater than, less than mentality. - TheC
