Seytan: Turkey's remake of The Exorcist! Forget the god awful prequel that is out now. This is the one to watch if you can find it on video. Basically a Turkish remake from 1974 that matches the original scene for scene. Very amateurishly made & produces unintentional laughs instead of scares. I could only find clips of the movie on this Excorcist fan site: http://www.captainhowdy.com/ Scroll down to the media downloads(video), it's a hoot!

How did you discover this gem ?? And what made you interested in films like this in the first place ??
There were tons of cheap remakes like this in the 70s and early eighties, mostly Turkish or Italian ( or Turkish-Italian collaborations). If this one made you laugh you should check out Turist Ömer Uzay Yolunda, which is sort of a comedy/remake of Star Trek, a wild medley of some of the most famous Star Trek episodes. There was also some sort of cheapo ET version and the cult classic Dünyayi Kurtaran Adam, which contained stolen snippets from Star Wars, including parts of the soundtrack. It is considered a cult underground classic today, pretty much like those Ed Wood movies. Actor Cüneyt Arkin ( who also starred in some really interesting Turkish dramas in the 60s) sometimes shot three movies in one month, rarely using a stuntman and often working with a broken arm or leg. The Italian critic Giovanni Scognamillo dedicated a whole book to this genre, it´s called Fantastik Türk Sinemasi, but as far as I know it´s only available in Turkish ( I bought mine in Izmir, TR some years ago). There´s also an English book called Mondo Macabro-Weird Cinema From Around The World which gives you some ideas where to get those c-movies in the USA or UK. Just orgnote me in case you have any further questions. I used to invite friends to my place in the early 90s to watch these movies just to have a good laugh before going to the clubs saturday nights. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

oh my god, i've seen this movie. it's kind of a bore, though the costumes and sets are sooo deliciously '70s it's just kinda pretty to look at, maybe like in the background at a party or something.
i have the el cheapo turkish remakes of "the wizard of oz" and "star wars". both are crack fantasies supreme! i have absolutely NO idea what's going on in the "star wars" one - it kinda turns into an indiana jones-ish movie midway through and the luke and han characters seemingly end up in egypt and darth vader looks like dr. funkenstein...but the "wizard of oz" remake is so garish and bizarre that it's beautiful in its own freaky kinda way. these are really fascinating little curiosities in my video collection - thanks for the thread, i'd forgotten all about the ones i own! (sorry about all that double-triple blank posting weirdness - either the org or my connection got all wonky and i can't seem to delete the extra posts. )
