I put my trust in no one. I learned the hard way....got burned too many times. When it came down to it, I found out the only one I can trust is me.

That is all a part of being human. It's like love, you know opening up to people might go both ways.

I hope you find the trust in yourself to trust others again. It's worth it.

Ever since reading the thread title I have this Prince line in my mind, one of the greatest of the entire Batman album.

Who can U trust if U can't trust God? Who can U trust , who can U?

And I am not even religious

Trust
(W,X,Y,Z)
"Hey, it's the man! Yeah, let's see what's going on!"

chorus:
Trust - who do ya?
Trust - what makes U a real lover?
Trust - I put this question to ya
Cuz I want U 2 be with me

Love - U cannot imagine
How much I want 2 give 2 U
Hot - I get so excited
Just thinkin' about all we could do
Dig it now

Another world awaits us
Another power 2 see
Close - don't worry about nobody else
From now on U'll be here with me

chorus

Money - how much'll make U happy?
U can have it all if it'll suit U right
But nothin', I said nothin' can take the place
Of U and me kickin' it tight, tight!
Come, it's easy
Just let yourself go - don't put up a fight
Sex - it's not that type of party
Girl, we're gettin' higher 2 night

chorus

"Get 'em! Take the pictures!"
"Gotham's greed!"

Trust

Hot and close, dig it now
Ooh, that feels good

chorus

Oh, My Lord!
When I'm on I feel good
Trust (good Lord)
When I'm on I feel good
Trust

Who do ya trust if U can't trust God?
Who can U trust - who can ya?
Who do ya trust if U can't trust God?
Who can U trust - who can ya?

Come and see

chorus

wait, I want ya with me
neva get married...

I think the word 'trust' is pretty much overused, misunderstood and abused to the point that it is almost worthless these days. Trust has become this random thing; sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, with no method applied to it.

My definition of it is, trust means you are entrusting someone with a secret, a favour, a wish, a job, etc. In that sense, I am giving up a little piece of myself, a part of the control I have over my life, because when I trust someone, I know they're also in a position to hurt me. In this respect, I think to myself, why should I trust anyone at all?!

I don't trust people on first meeting them. Only over time, in relation to how much they respect me, their actions, their loyalty, does that trust build up in me for them. I don't think you can truly claim someone as a friend on a first meeting. They are indifferent to who and who you are, so they'll just as easily pat you on the back as they would spit on your grave.

As for me, my most trusted friends are the ones who have always been there through good and bad times with me. I've learnt to build that trust in them. That's a lot of trust but not enough that I'll get myself involved in anything that would put either myself or them in a dangerous situation.

Given the way human nature is, people are usually selfish and greedy, so, more likely than not, someone you don't know will fuck you over, so you don't have a single reason in the world to entrust them with anything. Therefore, they get zero trust.

However, not trusting someone doesn't necessarily mean I disrespect them. I won't treat someone like crap just because I have no interest in them. Although I feel it's happened to me. I'm never rude and impolite to people who aren't those things to me.

The flipside is you can also respect someone without trusting them. Say like Prince for example, I respect him but you can't always trust him if we believe what we read! Is it because I wouldn't have trusted him? Of course; I admire his music and his career, but I don't know who he is as a person outside of what I read about him. There exists respect, but no trust.

I have a very hard time trusting anyone. Over the past few years, many things in my life have happened. Even people closest to me who i thought were family and some of my closest friends, i have lost trust in.. some i do not even speak to anymore.

I am glad i do have a few people still in my life, who i do trust..I love and cherish them more than they will ever know!

I give my trust to many, although it takes different forms. Sometimes it gets abused...I live thru it, and hopefully they learn from it, apologize for it, and we both grow in a positive direction as a result. It may take awhile before that trust is given to them again, if ever...just depends.

Full, unquestionable trust I give to those I've known and had within my life for a certain amount of time...and who have shown to have unwavering character and caring souls (as with Chico, my mother is the epidome of just such a person in human form heart, God the epidome, period. )...and even then I may hold back my trust in certain areas concerning deep issues involving insecurities I've lived with for decades...Will I "trust" them to understand, to not judge, to continue loving me? My mother and God, I trust they will. smile (add Tanys into that, too...rose)

Trust is something that doesn't come easily to me...I have to get to know someone quite well before I can trust them enough to get closer to them.

most of my family I can trust to never cast me out but not to look down on me no matter how much they think they think it's "duty" to be nice to me. My immediate family (my brother, father, stepmum, stepdad and his fiance) I can trust to love me for EXACTLY who I am and to be open and honest with me on all issues and all the time. I can trust them to tell me if I'm being a shit or a pain in the butt and I can trust them to give me a pat on the back if they think I deserve it but most of all I can trust them to support me no matter what. My true friends (who I could pretty much count on one hand) I can count on and trust for the same reasons.

Trust is something earned and achieved...it's a blessing
