Me too! I think Op is great. She's the epitomy of a successful woman. She has come a long way and I think that many people are just jealous. I think many would've liked to see her stay fat and fall on her face, but she hasn't! She rules the airwaves and she's one of the richest and most successful people in the world. She does great things for many people including people in other countries. She bought a school for kids to attend in South Africa. When was the last time you heard of anyone doing that? Someone above said she expoilts people. I beg to differ. Hers is the ONLY talk show that doesn't exploit people. She seems to really want to help people and to open peoples eyes as to what kind of life they can have if they educate themselves and stay out of trouble. The haters must all be Springer fans! And damn right I'm a fan of Springer.

For some people, jealousies and insecurities are aroused when others are successful. The specific question I was answering was "why do people HATE Oprah?" Your question of "why is she so popular?" is a completely different one. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

her show was OK in the 80's. she's crap now. She's preachy, self important, boring, shallow and fake. I can't understand anyone wasting an hour of there lives watching her and the multitudes of similar type shows.
read a book, watch the discovery channel, fucking learn something useful. Anything but that empty-headed banal bollocks.

Her recent interview with Maria Shriver was great.
Maria was very inspiring -- I forgave her Kennedy ass for helping Arnold get to the Governor's mansion. I've never found my time wasted watching her shows. I love that in L.A. they are rebroadcast at 2:00 a.m. If I'm not interested, I don't watch. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

(wait, can i say that since supposedly im sexist? ) gimme your sexist card...you've been busted!!!!! I respect Oprah's business savvy. I do like the fact that she was a poor black chile, abused, blah, blah, blah and is now one of the richest ppl in the country. Oprah is NO DUMBY but I don't care for her shows (although I loved the shows with Wynona Judd...omg..I was crying with her). I can't help but to respect her business mindset. There are times when you have to separate the personality from the accomplishments....I can't hate on Oprah.

I can't stand her ass either. That self-righteous attitude makes me...

Though I admire and respect how successful she is, I'd never been a fan of Oprah and her arrogant, asskissing, pompous attitude. She seems so phony all the time and so self-congratulatory. (How many shows does she need to do about her past hairstyles, or her past fashions, or what she looked like over the years, etc etc?)
But what really turned me TOTALLY off her was when she started going on and on and ON (in her know-it-all way...) about how she used to suffer from menstrual cramps and such and how, when she finally "embraced her womanhood" or some such bull, the horrible cramps just miraculously WENT AWAY!! Ok, that's great for her but she had to take it a bit too far and start proclaiming that ALL WOMEN who suffered with menstrual problems were just not "accepting their womanhood" or some such - ignorant, ridiculous - bull and that if all those suffering women would do so, they'd have no menstrual problems anymore. She claimed the pain and cramping was alllll due to your attitude and mindset or whatever. Speaking as a woman who suffered with severe pain and bleeding FOR MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE due to endometriosis, and whose life was made miserable by said disease and who eventually had to have a hysterectomy at 32, Oprah's moronic, uninformed, new-agey BULLSHIT about menstrual problems originating from whether or not you accept and embrace your womanhood really made me angry. Yeah, if I'd just accepted the fact I was a woman and "embraced my womanhood" blah blah blah, I'd have been cured of my health problem Oprah needs to keep her big fat mouth shut on things she really doesn't know anything about. Moderator | I respect Oprah. I know she's self righteous and pompous at times but the woman has built and empire out of nothing. She's smart and she does touch many people's lives...look you guys maybe hating on her but you are talking about her...and for this I give her tons of credit! In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

DAMN, Oprah better not ever come to the Org
Here's my take: I think it's really trippy that she doesn't feel vain about being on every cover of her mag Sometimes she is truly phony - the stairclimber/Emancipation incident, at times during interviews... BUT I do admire the positive/informative spin she's put on her shows since talk shows took such a negative dive these past few years (& some of y'all watch Springer??? ). I do watch her show when she has something interesting going & isn't just trying to make me cry I'm proud of her accomplishments. And what the fuck was she supposed to say about the case anyway? "We sent his ass to jail!" I mean damn It's her experience, of course she's gonna do her "examine my life" routine & talk about it from her perspective. If it was Howard Stern saying the same self centered shit nobody would care
