It's so hard to pick up just one movie, so here are my favorites:

Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas and Big Fish
Pedro Almodóvar's Talk to her and All about my mother
Aki Kaurismäki's The man without a past and Shadows in the paradise

Then I like Terminators but best Schwartzenegger-movie is still The Running man
Time flies like an arrow
Fruit flies like bananas

Under The Cherry Moon.

Yes, I'm serious. Shut the fuck up.

Edward Scissorhands and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory are right up there too. Oh, and Dr. Strangelove. I think those are tied for second. And then there are probably a dozen more tied for third.

Distressing, yes, but that film made me cry so hard. One of the most moving films I've ever seen.

I love those films! Both versions of Imitation of Life are great, but when Mahalia sings Trouble of the World and the daughter comes chasing after her mother's casket? Have mercy! So incredibly sad and moving. Quick useless trivia - Susan Kohner, who played the daughter Sarah Jane, is the mother of Chris and Paul Weitz; they'd go on to direct American Pie and About a Boy.

And Auntie Mame is a holiday favorite of mine. Rosalind Russell is perfect in it - I think it's one of the all-time greatest screen performances.
