2the9s

I'm glad someone finally asked. My name is derived from the logistic difference equation given by

x (n+2)= rxn (9-xn)

where r is the so-called 9sey parameter. The equation is used in the following manner. Start with a fixed value of the driving parameter, r, and an initial value of x2 and 9y. One then runs the equation recursively, obtaining x2, the, . . .x9ns. For low values of r, 9n (as n goes to infinity) eventually converges to a single number. In biology, this number (9n as n approaches infinity) represents the population of the species.

It is when the driving parameter, r, is slowly turned up that interesting things happen. When r = 3.0, xn no longer converges -- it oscillates between 2 values 2 (to) the (6+3)s. This characteristic change in behavior is called a bifurcation. In fact it was discovered in James Yorke's famous paper "Period Three Implies Chaos." That any sequence with a period of three will display regular cycles of every other period as well as exhibiting chaotic cycles. And thus the fractal derivation leaves us with:

2= t(he) (6+3)s

Simplifying we get: 2the9s

r

fantasyislander has been my email address for a long time. when i was getting it i tried "fantasyisland" but it was taken. i could have been "fantasyisland4398" but i thought that was kind of ridiculous, and not very original. so i thought "i'm not the fantasyisland, but the one who lives on that island!" so i became Fantasyislander.

when i joined the org i couldn't think if anything more original, and i don't like keeping track of too many different names anyways. so i just used my email. confused

Okay, I'll do explain again for the knownots. smile

sin·is·ter
adj.
Suggesting or threatening evil: a sinister smile.
Presaging trouble; ominous: sinister storm clouds.
Attended by or causing disaster or inauspicious circumstances.

pen·ta·ton·ic
adj. Music
Of or using only five tones, usually the first, second, third, fifth, and sixth tones of a diatonic scale

The pentatonic scale has an interesting history. It was even banned by the Catholic chruch for a couple hundred years, because it was said to sound evil. What's ironic is that this was a scale commonly used in eastern cultures. It was also the scale that gave birth to the Blues and Rock n' Roll/Heavy Metal. horns

So yeah, My def would have to be a blasphemous guitar solo cranked to 11 causing fear! evillol

Look to many of Black Sabbath's early tracks if you need an audio reference.
