HOW DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC??? I love to listen music with my eyes closed just listening to the sounds and later I like to imagine my own version of a video or live performance for the songs. When I was younger, we had a component set where the large speakers stood on the ground. I would lie on my side, in a fetal position on the floor as close as I could get to the speakers. I would turn the volume as loud as I could without it rattling the speakers. The problem was that people kept thinking I fell asleep and would come and turn it off. I'd get pissed and jump up and have to start the song all over again
I had a headphone fetish until I stepped on them and haven't replaced them. I like the big headphones that cover my whole ears. I'd close my eyes and lose myself in the music. To me, there was no other way to listen to music. You could hear EVERYTHING. The coolest thing was listening to Bjork's "My Headphones" with headphones on! How do you like to listen to your music?

Do you like to sit in private and read the lyrics along with the music? Do you like to have one complete listen all the way through? Do you like to be busy doing something while listening like on the computer or cleaning? [This message was edited Wed Jul 28 0:34:18 2004 by Janfriend]

I agree the best way is with headphones. I think I have not heard a album until I have heard it with headphones. It is almost like you are completely coverd with the music. You can let the music paint it's picture on your imagination. Maybe if you took off that chastity belt you could breath a little mo betta.

I find that either when I'm out walking or driving is the best way to listen to music...the whole moving thing goes so much better with music than just sitting in a room, which I rarely do.

Usually when I first get a cd I listen to it in headphones. It also depends on where I am and whos around. But nothing beats headphones for me. Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

Headphones. I prefer good quality earbuds, but I also have the type that cover your whole ear.

new music - over and over and over until I feel what they're trying to do
Org music (artist forum) - with a good pair of headphones and more than once Classical - early Sunday morning as the sun is rising with a cup of tea, thoughout the whole house Jazzy House - drinking wine with friends on a Friday night Jazz - for inspiration at the wee hours of the morning Punk Rock - When I'm riding my bike or kinda mad Metal - When I'm REALLY mad and want to kill the stupid Classic Rock - when the radio only picks up one station techno - while running or lifting weights Prince - the rest of the time forgot one - edit [This message was edited Wed Jul 28 13:23:36 2004 by Slave2daGroove]

In my room, with my mini hifi which lights up blue when i play my cds..i love dat thing I'm usually dancin around my room or joggin around da spot n crap for excercise..or if i'm tidyin up, i like havin it on, dat's alwayz been da way since i was a kid...my mum would get da records out on a Saturday arvo and while she's doin cleanin around da house, i'd be dancin in da loungeroom n stuff lol...and yeah, i also love listening to my portable cd player, particularly when i'm on my way to uni...its also a good way of avoiding looniez who decide they wanna talk to you!! I usually get lost in da world of whatever i'm listening to..if it's a song dats real suitable for my vocal range, i tend to un-intentionally feel how i'd interpret dat myself..i can feel my vocal muscles try and immulate what i'd do when i sing it..if dat makes anysense..and yeah!! No hablo espanol,no!
Pero hablo ingles..ssii muy muy bien... "Come into my world..." Missy Quote of da Month: "yeah, sure, that's cool...wait WHAT?! "

Like Slave, I listen to different types of music in different situations, but I find myself searching for an emotional core, usually through the lyrics. I find that jazz, though mainly instrumental, speaks its own language, though it takes a while to understand it.
I visualize different things I've experienced, seen, or done in my life, at times. Good question, tho. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I'm going to steal this from you and put in my own opinions, ok? new music - rarely, and if I do, very tentatively and usually with reservations. It takes me a while to get into any new album/band/artist, etc. Melancholy/depressing music such as The Cure/The Smiths/Depeche Mode etc. - This sort of music always cheers me up. I use it for yoga a lot. Org music (artist forum) - never (there's an artist forum ) Reggae - only in the summer Classical - when I'm preparing a ballet class, or most likey, taking one. Ska - when I have extra energy to burn Jazzy House - at someone else's house, or at a bar Soul - When I'm in the mood to sing and dance at my house, I always have to put on some Al Green or Otis. Jazz - when my husband puts it on Funk - when I want to dance, or am getting ready to go out. Punk Rock - when my husband's NOT home, and/or I'm feeling nostalgic. (he hates it) Metal - ALWAYS when I'm cleaning or painting the house Classic Rock - All the time, although only certain bands. I love listening to Led Zeppelin, the Stones, Pink Floyd, etc. when I'm doing dishes. techno - I try not to, although that's very difficult when you live in Holland Prince - Not so much these days, but here and there. Usually when I'm in the mood for dancing around the house. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

My best experience in this category was listening to Paganini while ripping up a carpet. It helps to be doing something with your hands.

co-sign. Most often with headphones (gotta be great quality like said above) at 2 in the morning, pitch black, laying in bed is always the way for me. Paints great pictures. Gotta be able to hear all the elements in the music. Sometimes I listen while I'm browsing the web first, on my computer speakers. Then I'll usually burn some favorites of the new cds I've bought and take it to the car.

Sounds great! I must admit, I used to have a pair of those large headphones. They were brilliant! I too would turn off the lights, lay down on the couch or my bed, put the headphones on & just LISTEN to the music...all the sounds...instruments, absorbing everything. For an entire album or 3,4,5 minutes of a song, I was in another world. It was escapism. PS-Sexy avatar!!!
