Why is it necessary when u see someone u know far off in the distance walking towards u to feel awkward, stare at the ground as you walk and then pretend to see them just as you approach, at which point you look up suddenly and casually say 'hi'?

... hmmm

that's an interesting question indeed, I did that today actually..
anyways.. by not making eye contact from far away you are signaling that you are not a threat, and by making contact when they pass you by you are signaling, "I acknowledge your existence"..

So what you are describing is an attempt of a balanced approach to your fellowman (or woman)

I do this too, in the office place. Many people will still look away and not acknowledge me. That's why one day I will set the building on fire.

Ever since...my boss....Bill....he took my stapler....And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

right, right... tell you what Mr. Miles..

It is perfectly normal to feel anger inside in those types of situations. However.. burning the place down is a slight over-reaction.

What Im gonna recommend you is an anger-management program... those guys really do good work you know..

Also.. it is important to get laid on a regular basis; it has been proven to decrease stress levels, so might wanna consider that option too - or both

Thank you, I appreciate that. But you have to realize that Mr. Lumbergh is driving me crazy. I didn't receive my paycheck this week. Mr. Lumbergh told me to talk to payroll and payroll told me to talk to Mr. Lumbergh and I still have not received my paycheck and they moved my desk to storage room B and there was garbage on it. DO I still need to get laid?

this sounds very much like an economic problem you have to sort out with your company...

other than that, getting laid always helps relieve stress although it will obviously not solve this particular problem for you

hmm.. you seem like an intelligent guy.. so I know it's against your better judgement to set things on fire..

the hooker on the other hand you might wanna get hot in another way than the literal..

Yeah I see exactly what you mean. You are what is known as an introvert. Introversion is a very common personality trait, but not all people are bothered by it.

Is it a major problem for you?

You are asking me a relative question for which a relative answer is in place..

It's all about circumstances.. you need to ask yourself, "Is this behaviour acceptable in the enviroment I happen to be in"?

If you're in ,say, a club, chances are it would be acceptable, but you would have to use your common sense every time...

I think that behavior would be acceptable on the appropriate office cubicle if it is study enough. geek

Thank you Dr. for responding. Hope it wasn't a bother. To answer your question about introversion, first of all I wasn't aware of that. Secondly, it's helpful to know not all are bothered with this common personality trait . Last but not least, I'll highly recommend you when the need arises. boxed
