Dont throw it away! Recycle it!

http://www.make-stuff.com...index.html

Here is one of my favourite suggestions:

"Pretend" Shoes - When I was about 7 or 8 and I had small feet I used to take 2 egg cartons and make shoes. I did this by opening the carton and cutting off (lengthwise) about half of the bottom side with the bumps. Then I cut off the bump on the lid and put tape over the hole. Next I would close the carton and put my foot in the hole to see if I'd cut it large enough. If I had then I would tape the carton shut and put my foot in it. Then I would do the same with the other carton. They make great shoes for kids to play with. Contributed by Judy Goodman

Forgive me, (for this thread.) I am bored. I'm off to make some egg carton shoes. Ciao.

I recycled a boot, a fishing rod, and a motor to make an ass-kicking machine for Lleena when I am not around.

Hi Kitty!

I am going to make you!:

Things you can do with cardboard tubes:

Bracelets - Cut tube down one side, then cut into sections (same size as napkin rings). Then cover with wrapping paper or material, using glue stick. Use clear adhesive shelf paper to cover bracelets. Little girls like these and it's easy to make a few at a time. and different styles.

These caterpillars look really neat placed around the garden and with any luck they will scare off the real bugs wink With even more luck they might turn into a beautiful butterfly!
Here's what you'll need:

1 Egg Carton
Green Acrylic Paint
2 Google Eyes
Colored Pipe Cleaners
Green Yarn or Heavy Twine
Hot Melt Glue Gun
You might want to get some help from a grownup with cutting the egg carton apart.
Cut the lid off of the egg carton and put it aside.
Cut the bottom half apart down the center.
Using scissors cut along the edge of the egg pockets very close to the top.
Glue the two halves together using hot melt glue.
Paint your caterpillar a bugs color of green.
Glue your yarn around the edge to help hide the seam.
Make two curly cues from pipe cleaners to mount the eyes on.
Poke holes in the head for the curly cues . Glue the curly cues into the holes and glue google eyes onto the ends of them.
Make legs for each section of the egg carton using pipe cleaners. Cut them about 1 1/2" long and bend them at 90 degrees.
Poke holes in the egg carton for each leg. Glue the legs into the holes in the egg carton.
You can add more decoration to your caterpillar using marking pens or acrylic paint. We put pom pom feet on ours and added some sparkle to the top. Just go crazy and have a ball. Make each one different so you have a variety of caterpillars.

i think recycling is a good idea too, and i always try to re-use things as much as possible. why just the other day i had an old salad bowl, well got pretty dinged up over the years and the stainless steel was getting dull. so after i bought a new bowl, insteadof throwing the old one away i just turned it upside down, trimmed it with fur and a bit of holly and presto! chango! a stylish new hat!

Excellent!

Here is an idea for you XxAxX!

Things you can do with CD jewel cases.

"Stained Glass" Ornament - Paint you favorite stained glass design inside the top of the case, with any glass paint then drill a small hole in the case with a 1/16 drill bit and suspend with fishing line and a window suction cup, or if you don't have a suction cup you can use a cup hook and suspend."

Not sure where you get a suction cup though..hmmm

Heiress

the coolest thing that i've seen - that i'm trying to make right now - is a bag crocheted out of strips of ordinary plastic shopping bags...

they look incredibly cool. and you end up using around 100 to make something decent, i think.
