NEED GOOD KARAOKE SONG - FEMALE ROCK?? I'm going to some karaoke event this weekend and really want to do a good song by a female rock artist. Normally, I do the LIKE A VIRGIN route when I'm intoxicated but this event is actually for serious karaoke-ers (they DO exist!) so this time I'm ready to rock...any suggestions? something in your eyes is making such a fool of me....

Wear a hat and seductively sing "you can leave your hat on"
women can sing songs done by men and do it GREAT. Marvin Gaye too

well my voice is more alto-ish (is that a word?!)
not sure if i can hit those notes on "hanging on the telephone..." something in your eyes is making such a fool of me....

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" or "Holding On for a Hero" - when you want to rock the shit at karaoke night, you can't go wrong with Bonnie Tyler.

Just like the white winged dove...
Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Whoo... whoo... whoo... Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo And the days go by... Like a strand in the wind... In the web that is my own... I begin again Said to my friend, baby... Nothin' else mattered He was no more... than a baby then Well he... seemed broken hearted... Something within him But the moment... that I first laid... Eyes... on... him... all alone... On the edge of... seventeen Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... ooo baby... ooo... said ooo... Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo I went today... maybe I will go again... Tomorrow And the music there it was hauntingly... Familiar And I see you doing... What I try to do for me With the words from a poet... And the voice from a choir And a melody... nothing else mattered Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... ooo baby... ooo... said ooo Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo The clouds... never expect it... When it rains But the sea changes colours... But the sea... Does not change And so... with the slow... graceful flow... Of age I went forth... with an age old... Desire... to please On the edge of... seventeen Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo Well then suddenly... There was no one... left standing In the hall... yeah yeah... In a flood of tears That no one really ever heard fall at all Oh I went searchin' for an answer... Up the stairs... and down the hall Not to find an answer... Just to hear the call Of a nightbird... singing... Come away... come away... Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song Sounds like she's singing... Ooo... baby ooo... said ooo Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo... baby ooo... said ooo Well I hear you in the morning... And I hear you... At nightfall... Sometime to be near you... Is to be unable... to hear you... My love... I'm a few years older than you... Just like the white winged dove... Sings a song... Sounds like she's singing... Ooo baby... ooo... said ooo "Pedro offers you his protection."

"Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles is always a winner...
"Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high Mama's dancin' with baby on her shoulder The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for Chorus: Black velvet and that little boy's smile Black velvet with that slow southern style A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees Black velvet if you please Up in Memphis the music's like a heatwave White lightening, bound to drive you wild Mama's baby's in the heart of every school girl "Love me tender" leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for chorus Every word of every song that he sang was for you In a flash he was gone, it happened so soon, what could you do? (Solo) chorus repeats 2x If you please, if you please, if you please" |

Now I wouldn't have thought of that song. We used to go to karoake at this dive bar that had the strangest mix of clientele. It was about 1/3 gay men, 1/3 punk rockers, 1/3 ghetto hoochies/crackheads, then throw in a few down-n-out neighborhood regulars and then of course me and my friends. You'd hear everything from Baby Got Back to ACDC to Neil Diamond to Patsy Cline to the Cure. It was a hoot! |
