2004 is shaping up to be another great year for me (just like I predicted). I lost a job last year and now I have an even better one. Ive decided to start a Masters degree program next year (physical therapy) and I am excited about that. My Pistons won the NBA Championship ( I am a huge Pistons fan). I turned 25 years old in May and my family and I are in good health. I cant ask for more than that. Anything else is just icing on the cake. When Kerry wins the election in November, it will top off an amazing year!! biggrin

MrJoker

This past half year has been great for the most part. I'd like a different job, but oh well. I'm about halfway through production on a short film, I saw Prince in concert, and I met some of you people. thumbs up! My mom was having some health problems but seems to be doing a lot better since being properly diagnosed. (Thanks for all those prayers, guys!) The year will continue with seeing The Time this month, taking trips to Indiana and Michigan later in the year, and finishing up my film.

Bring on the 2nd half! biggrin

2004. hmmm

it's been very strange, so far. as has pretty much every year of my life. some wonderful things have happened, and some terribly sad things. one in particular.

i don't want to use this as a therapy session, so i'll just say the best of times and the worst of times.

but i truly hope you all have a wonderful second half of the year. hug

Rhondab

The worst year of my life.

January - Lost job of 7 years then I find out that my friend of 16 years had something to do with it

February - my mother lost her fight with lung/liver cancer 2-19-04 (I will never forget that date)

April - my father is diagnosed with Hep B. Turns out he's had it since 1999 and was misdiagnosed.

May - my daughters father comes back into "our" lives after being away. This isn't a bad thing yet its been stressful

So far.....2004 SUCKS.....

(Just listened to this song over the weekend for the first time in a long time...you made me think of it again just now... rose )

Gonna Get Better

We do what we do
To try and get us through
Our darkest days
A time in life that's not so bright
And there will be days when we cry
And we don't know why
You've gotta fight it
Those days will pass you by

It's gonna get better
Everybody knows there's brighter days
It's gonna get better
Live your life, and take it day by day

Be positive in mind or you'll
Fall before you even try
Sometimes it takes a helping hand
(A helping hand is what you need)
To show you that life goes on
There's a brand new dawn
When you're feeling down
There's always a reason
To hold on
Tell yourself

It's gonna get better
Everybody knows there's brighter days
It's gonna get better
Live your life, and take it day by day

You gotta live your life
Cause life is for the living
And you don't know
If you'll get the chance again
You gotta find a way to hold on maybe
Faith will help you carry on
Just fight it
Take it in your stride
It's gonna be alright

It's gonna get better
Everybody knows there's brighter days
It's gonna get better
Live your life, and take it day by day

It's gonna get better, pick yourself up and start again
And maybe when you find yourself alone
You'll have the time
To gather all your thoughts
And when you find
You're not so strong
You'll have the strength
To carry on
And even when you find yourself in doubt
You'll never lose sight
Of what your life's about
And when you find you're losing faith
You'll get the strength to help you
Tell yourself it's gonna get better
Just tell yourself that
It is gonna get better
Just tell yourself
It's gonna get better...

hug Hang in there, Rhonda... sun

Shortly into 2004, I decided to change careers and take a job with US Customs. This meant leaving the Chicago area for the first time in my life. On February 5, I made the drive to Brownsville, Tx - 1550 miles away from Chicago.

In early March, I went to Georgia for three months to complete the training. Training went well - academic honors.

The highpoint of training came on April 27 when I was able to see Prince in Jacksonville. Would you believe that the ticket cost $40, and I was able to set in the suite that the training center owns.

I am now back in Texas waiting patiently for the end of this year. My wife and two kids are still in the Chicago area. The family will make the move to Texas on Dec 16.

After I left for Texas, I have seen my family for a total of six days. I will see them at the end of this month for four days and again in December when we move permanetly to Texas.

So 2004 has been a year of change.
