Shipping item home from an international country.

Hi,

A bit of a strange post and this may not get any replies....but

anyone have experience in getting a lost item returned to them from an overseas airport???

Lost an item(birthday gift) which miraculously has been found and is now sitting in the USA airport. Fed/ex( who they advised I use for shipping) have given a rough quote of anywhere between $150-$290!! Although the item was a birthday gift, I know its not financially worth that and unfortunatley I can't afford it either despite the sentimental value.

Anyone had a similar experience in shipping back to the UK when the item is in the states? and if so help:)

I realise in the great scheme of whats going on globally, this isn't important but if anyone has any info, its all very gladly received.

Cheers

There are other delivery services, try getting a cheaper quote elsewhere.....at that price nearly seems cheaper for you to fly over and pick it up yourself.

very quick google check gave me this

How can I ship from USA to UK cheap?
Courier services to the UK
  1. TrakPak Drop Off is the cheapest way to ship from the US to UK, offering the ability to send packages up to 100lbs in 4-14 business days. ...
  2. International Drop Off is the cheapest fully tracked courier service we offer to the UK, with delivery in 2-5 business days.

Hopefully helpful

Thanks jfrost for the reply and info. I've been looking into it but I'm limited by who will pick up from the airport as thats where the item is. You are right though, it would be good to just get a flight there(and certainly cheaper than fed/ex biggrin)

Thanks again
