Whole collection - signed items, rare stuff - must sell, got a wedding to pay for Hi all, I'm hoping this is cool for me to advertise, I have to sell my collection. I'm keeping the albums, a few T shirts and my programes/tickets, but everything else is up for grabs.
Its nearly all on eBay now but I have come here to ensure you lot know you might spot a few rare items of interest. Clearly I'm advertising because I'm hoping for higher bids, but this collection is pretty special including:
- scrapbooks that have 1978-2012 articles; the mask used in the Sexy MF video of Prince's mama; rare stuff from the NPG stores etc; tickets, rare flyers; picture discs and rare sleeves; signed Purple Rain sleeve
if you want to have a look my eBay user name is mearsi, or search for ' Sexy MF video prop ' and you'll find me that way.
thanks, I hope you get a chance to look - all ends Friday

A link to at least one of your items would be good.

Are you sure you're no me!?
This is how my collection would look like if I was selling it on eBay.
Hope the sale AND the wedding goes well.

That is a collection and a half.
It's a real wrench having to sell stuff you've spent years and a lot of $ collecting. She must be a helluva girl
I did something similar a few years ago, and I've regretted it ever since.
I mean selling all my P stuff, not getting married Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

Glad you cleared that up!

yeh, a lot of emotions too. When I look at some of the covers and remember which record shop I bought it at (and the girl behind the counter, ah Golden Disc, Southend, Essex) - and whether the B side was something to look forward to or just a remix/edit. So many memories but having emigrated and then getting to the point where I play the albums but no longer the singles, and no longer look good in the T Shirts etc - it's time for someone else to enjoy.
That said, since he announced he was playing Australia last week I have had a smile on my face and a number of tunes in my head - when all is said and done, it is about the music, and at 40 I don't need to own a bunch of posters that live in a cardboard tube. I'm keeping every album, every 12" that has a good b-side, every ticket etc. I guess its a natural step.
In the mid 90's I was very close to writing an illustrated collectors handbook that Paisley Park showed an interest in. I went to Minneapolis and met some people, went to the studio (watched videos in a booth with Diamond and Pearl!). I was obsessed and can lay in bed recreating almost every Prince song note for note in my head. It'll be nice to get back to it just being about the music - (but next month after the live shows a part of me will be obsessed again!)

I've been on Hols for 10 days and missed the auctions. Got everything sold, or are you planning to post more things? I'm definitely interested! (also in more details about your encounter with Diamond and Pearl! )

Hi - most went, and then a stack more went at a Record Fair, but I will be listing what's left in the next couple of weeks - mainly related artists, Prince posters and a stack of Uptown, Controversy, Dream Nation, Interactive, Continental fanzines. I'll post here when its all up, cheers
