call the forum and ask them.. they would know.. also, yes alot of the videos are when he does encores and most of the people have already left. but if he is selling $10 tickets, you have to wonder "has LA had enough?" YES , come back to the east cost !!! we can handle much more than 21 nights!

It ain't that serious....I was just asking if anyone heard. 21 nights is a long time to be somewhere...especially in America.

They are selling pretty good, yesterday when I looked it was almost a full house except the Col was half full and the tickets are mainly at 25 for now, but its for a purpose so I don't think he minds at all biggrin.

Sheeit, there's damn near no advertsising for it and only 3-4 days notice. Im kind of shocked he has it 3/4 full.

I don't understand this 21 night gig. He could've raised the ticket price to $50 and only decided to do 10 or 11 nights instead of 21 nights, and he would've pretty much earned the same amount of profit....He's being generous for fans I get it but ugh....Wish he could've done less shows in Cali and come to Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, Miami...etc. etc. He can definitely have sold out shows in Chicago for sure!!

I haven't been to any of the Thursday shows, but Friday and Saturday nights have been pretty full. They did have some of the upper seats at the rear of the stage blocked off for Friday 4/29 show.

I think having the band on the radio promoting the show on Friday helped sales. Very little promotion is being done. Of course, there are a lot of crazy repeat customers like me who keep coming back for more. And I did tell a friend on Facebook when tickets were going on sale because he didn't know how to find out. So I helped Prince sell 4 more tickets!

didn't he add 3 more dates? I'd imagine it's doing well if he added more on top of the already scheduled 21.

I believe that part of the reason is because he is supporting the Forum, which is apparently in considerably financial strife and struggling to recover due to having very few event bookings.

Thus, by booking 21 nights, Prince is giving them a huge boost, whilst having a great venue to play in (one he obviously values highly) and providing an affordable option to fans; ie. venue hire is presumably cheaper, meaning he can charge less and not stress too much about how many people come.

I've been getting tweets mid-show when the tickets are $10 a pop and it's half empty. There's not enough of a heads-up. And to be honest I think 21 shows in the same venue is a bit much. Plus he's playing the same setlist night after night with very few surprices. Get's boring very quickly.

The whole part of the allure in seeing Prince live is that it's so rare. Here he's like your local Saks sales girl. There's no excitement. Too much of a good thing is bad.

Maybe it is in America, in the UK all 21 nights at a 20,000 capacity venue in London were sold out.

Demand was huge, he could have played more.

I think your twats about the venue being half full are false.

The new shows are not on top of the 21. The shows this week are #8, 9 and 10 of the 21 nights.

I went on the 22nd/23rd and both nights looked sold out to me.

Though I hear that this past Thursday nights show wasn't massively sold.

I think Prince may use a loophole and wind up the shows before 21, but move to a new city and continue the count elsewhere - eg show 14, 15, 16 and so on til he reaches a grand total of 21 nights on this leg of the tour.

yes,but.... that were more or less all shows he played that year, apart from some smaller gigs in vegas and europe.at that time mayor gigs hadnt taken place for years in europe nor in the us.

plus the shows were announced months before and a new album was released.

nowadays he played already at the east coast and many people still wait him to come to other parts of the us in the coming months ,so i dont think people come from all over to world to see the LA shows( as it was in london )

They are maybe not sold out, but very very packed. All the shows especially the friday and saturday shows looked very packed to me, if I look at the pics/vids from these shows.

I think he does a good job, actually no promotion.. , same venue, that he confirmed it so late.. all factors , why it's not completely sold out. I think the shows selling great actually.. it's going well!

I hope he comes back to Europe soon as possible.. I think for the UK it will be great if he comes there again. cool

Sales should be quite OK, if they can appreciate '17 days'...

Seems like the first week of concerts you were hearing all over the radio about him being in concert! after that nothing. I find out about the shows online not sure how others are hearing about the shows?

It's easier for him to get musical guest appearances in Cali. Plus, the starpower in Cali is bigger than in Chi, H-Town, Mia, and everywhere else sans NY.

DEAR GOD!!...I hope you are way out in left field on this. I have big plans to go VIP the last week in May and the first week of June (all 6 shows if he is still in SoCal). I will be on vacation and wanted to make it an "All Out Prince" vacation instead of travelling elsewhere. Oh well, if he leaves LA, I will just have to follow..

I hope I am wrong too - for Prince's face and for your holiday plans. I flew from Sydney, Australia to LA to catch the Fri/Sat shows over Easter and am so glad I went. The second 3 hour show especially was wild.

Hope you get to see him in LA - the forum is a great arena.

I think there is a lot of positive word of mouth. I did hear them talking about the show on 92.3 on Satruday and they played a song by the Time and another one by Prince. And it doesn't hurt that celebrities are showing up too.

yeahthat

Same setlist? No surprises? Have you gone to the shows or seen thet setlist?

There are 20 songs that he has only played one time. Special musical guests of Gwen Stefani, Chaka Khan, Alicia Keys, Nikka Costa, Larry Graham, Cassandra Wilson and soon to be more. Dancing on stage Cuba Gooding Jr, JLo, Eva Longoria, and an attempt by Whitney Houston.

Also -- the shows have NEVER been half empty. This is a huge exaggeration based on pictures taken at 7:30 and/or smaller crowd during the house-lights-on, 5th encores. During the main show almost every seat in the bottom part of the arena is full. Fri/Sat the top if fairly full too, except on the very top and the ends.

The difference between London 21 nights and LA 21 nights is that he sold the tickets much earlier for the London concerts-giving time for people from far away places to make arrangements. With less than 1 week notice of concert dates makes air travel very expensive. The 21 nights in LA is not about money-I'm guessing it's a promotion aspect of his current tour. If Prince would just do a standard tour (like Musicology) and go city to city. He once again would be the top act on tour (money wise).

The key thing about Musicology tour is that the tickets went on sale 3 months or more before the concerts.

Did Whitney go up on stage? I saw her and her daughter singing and dancing (for the camera) the other night. LOL!!!!

I was thinking the same about the half empty photos....but 21 nights is a long time.
