Wanted: Help finding a MadCat

I've spent some time looking for an original H.S. Anderson MadCat Tele. Everything on Ebay is a re-make (or a photo of a real one next to a remake).

Anyone on this board willing to part with one? Any ideas on how to track one down?

They're fairly rare guitars—and I mean legitimately rare, not just expensive—because they were only made for a short period of time before Honer bought H.S. Anderson and started making changes. All you can really do is keep a few thousand dollars set aside, watch eBay daily, and let the big dealers in the cities know to call you if something turns up.

I have seen very early Honer telecasters turn up on Craigslist here in NYC. But only HH models that were damaged or of questionable provenance.

Take a look at this auction:

That's kinda my point. Look at the zoomed in version of the Headstock - the text does not follow the headstock in a curvy fashion - and I doubt "vintage" was printed on an original guitar.

Compare the headstock labeling to this photo:

Now, the second one in from the left looks authentic - and I asked the poster if that particular guitar was for sale, and he said 'no'.

In fact, my original post was referring to this ebay listing:

"Everything on Ebay is a re-make (or a photo of a real one next to a remake)."

Thanks for taking the time to look into it, but I don't believe an original H.S. Anderson Madcat can be purchased through this auction.

I'm grabbing a Hohner remake right now - It will be fun to have that while I continue my search.

I'm selling my original 1975 HS Anderson Madcat if you're still looking.
