Here is an unbelievable Prince rarity -- Prince - Prototype Hologram From "Diamonds & Pearls" Album

The original glass plate prototype hologram that Prince approved for the cover of his "Diamonds and Pearls" album. This one-of-a-kind prototype was made for the approval of Prince before manufacturing the millions of holograms that would be used for this album cover. Measuring 8.75" square and made of glass and foil, this has the original order tag, dated 7/1/91 on the reverse. I obtained if from the art director for this album, who showed this to Prince for his approval at Larabee Studios in Hollywood, where he was recording. Included is a letter detailing the history of this unique artifact. (As this is a difficult item to photograph, the quality of the pictures leaves something to be desired.)

Note: Some people have asked me about the provenance of this and how I know it is authentic. I obtained this from a former Exec. VP of Warner Bros. Records in the 90's who art directed a number of Prince's album covers, including "Diamonds and Pearls," the "Symbol" album and "The Hits" compilations.
