FS: Jacob Armen - Drum Fever (CD) AUCTION ENDED --- S O L D
I'm going to start the auction on ebay this Thursday evening (11:00 pm MEST). I intend to run it for 10 days. Regarding cost of p&p etc., please check this ebay link. It will be active in a few hours. Starting price is EUR 10.00 / USD 12.54 / GBP 6.76 - I think that's quite fair. To those of us who are not familiar with Jacob Armen: Though the item's of high interest to Prince collectors just because of the fact it's rare, there's no involvement of Prince regarding music or production. P "just" supported this immensely talented drummer. Nevertheless, browsing the credits you'll find Eric Leeds. Jacob Armen's music is a wild mixture; so please don't expect anything in the veins of what Prince did. If any at all, "n.e.w.s" or "C-Note" spring to mind. Just like these (except for "Empty Room" on C-Note), Armen's album is a complete instrumental work. But, it brings in much more energy and rhythm (naturally) and a wider range of musical styles. Trying to describe Armen's musical style, you will find it's Heavy Metal, Classic, Pop, Jazz, Lounge, Latin, World Music, and even some Big Band reminiscences... and often he mixes those within one single track. It really is great. Enjoyable, entertaining, and on a stunning artistic level (no comparison to Vanity & the likes...). * Artist: Jacob Armen * Title: "Drum Fever" * Cat#: 0061462NPG (CB791) * Barcode: 009880614624 * Label: NPG Records / Edel * Release: 1995 * Manufacturing: Made in Germany by Optimal Matrix reads: * IFPI L621 * OPTIMAL Germany NPG 6146-2 * IFPI 9701 -> that last line is very hard to read (only when scanned and zoomed in) Condition: * Jewel Case - A bit scratched. Two price tags on front (layered by another two, see scan), one on back. As you can tell from the one on the back, it most probably is the original case (the tag dates back to September 1995). The front price tag in top right corner covers a small crack in the case (3 cm). Consequently, the case can be graded "Good". * Booklet and inlay - Excellent. You feel it's used but no stains or whatsoever. * CD - It's a coated picture CD. Very light visible scratches on the blank side. Immaculate play. Right now, I'm playing it... I'd give the label side an M, while the side to be played is EX-. Btw, the front scan of course is not taken directly from the booklet. I scanned the jewel case with the booklet kept inside. No price tags on the booklet, they are stuck to the case. My intention was to show the appearance of the item itself avoiding wrong expectations. Tracklist: 1. Gothic Metal (Dusty Barber/Shane Barber) 2:49 2. El Mambo Tigre (Albert Armen) 4:57 3. Jungle Jazz (Freddie Ravel) 4:56 4. Crazy Fingers (Albert Armen) 3:55 5. Nowhere To Be Found / Rainbow (Eric Leeds/Don DePaolis) 4:13 6. Leias Dance (Alphonso Johnson) 3:50 7. Armenian Spice (Albert Armen) 6:35 8. Salsa Peppers (Charles Argesinger) 4:46 9. Giant Steps (John Coltrane) 8:32 10. Crash Of The Planet Earth (Albert Armen) 3:22 [Edited 10/15/06 0:55am] [Edited 10/23/06 8:38am]

Sorry that my auction got deleted for a few hours... for more information I linked it to a Housequake thread which I didn't know was against the ebay rules. Of course, I will re-post the auction within a few hours. Nothing wrong with the item.
Auction is back online, ending same day as before (next Sunday). End *time* has changed though. What a hassle I put me in... I think I got a few of you upset, thinking the item had gone too early! Wolf

Yep. But I didn't know the story behind the release... Boris and T gave some excellent insights regarding this on Housequake. Obviously, this almost would have become a dead release too. Neither NPG Records nor Prince approved it. But someone at Edel Records did... albeit for a low run of copies Wolf

According to what Boris and T said, I'm pretty sure there's no other release around than the German one.
