Recommend ten albums I should get Stymie here. I am bored to death with my record collection so could you guys recommend something? Some of you know me and what I like but for those of you who don't, I will listen to pretty much anything, my favorites being r&b/funk and funk-tinged rock. I am running out today to spend a grip on some music including Femi Kuti and probably Van Hunt but I need more. Your recommendations can be old or new. Thanks.

seriously babe, if you don't get that basement jaxx album, i'm gonna have to hold an intervention on your ass and get it FOR you. don't make me resort to corrective gifting measures, we both know it doesn't make for a pretty sight.

These are some of my favorite albums of all time Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins This album was instrumental in opening up my musical taste. I had only ever listened to R&B, funk and soul and this was the first Rock album I bought and it opened me up to accept different music. This album is amazing. Brother Sister - Brand New Heavies This is one of the most perfect albums ever. N'Dea Davenport has the most amazing voice. She brings out the best in her band and the band brings out the best in her. This album is flawless. Is This Desire - PJ Harvey I can't think of another album that leaves me hollow and full all at the same time. There is stark loneliness, searching and desperation here, but there is something deeper that saves you at the same time. This album tells some stories...one's you won't forget anytime soon. Post - Bjork So many different styles going on here. I don't think she'll ever create an album so eclectic. I once had a dream in which she came to me to explain that the album cover represented the full force of the album. Go look at it Maxinquaye - Tricky Wow, Wow, Wow! Tricky's first, and probably his best, album. I have always wished Prince would get dark like this guy. Tricky has an amazing talent for creating dark soundscapes and he's a master at using fucked up timing to his advantage. Kid A - Radiohead This album is the destination. If you listen to their first 3 albums, you'd never believe they'd arrive here. This album had me from the first 5 synth chords. Another world lies in the shiny cd disc. Dee Lite - Dewdrops in the Garden I love the cover of this album because in the background you see a dark stormy looking sky set against the concrete jungle and in the middle is a little dewdrop with a fantastical magical world inside. That is truly what this album is. A delighfully quenching drink amidst the darkness of the world. I got this at one of the darkest times in my life and this album had the power to lift me above the sadness. Adriana Evans - Adriana Evans An absolutely exquisite voice. This album helped confort me when I had my appendicitis attacks. Her voice soothed me and brought me so much comfort. I Am Shelby Lynne - Shelby Lynne Unexpected, from the introduction of the rolling drums and sweeping violins to the desolate black light blues. Natural Ingredients - Lucious Jackson This is some funky shit. Not bad for a bunch of white girls! Enjoy . Herbert should be easy to find! And Maxiquaye is a classic! You haven't heard any of if yet? I agree, I don't think you'll find Maxinquaye a difficult listen. It might be different than most of the music you like but trust me, it's some deep shit. Overcome....my favorite Tricky track ever! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

it's a really perfect companion album to basement jaxx's "rooty", in my opinion - i usually listen to one right after the other.
