Janet on BET awards! i really enjoyed her performance...big surprise, right, lol!! i wasn't mad about the rapped bit at the end but it wasn't awful. i especially loved the opening spoken part about people loving you one day and scorning you the next. and the fact that she was wearing a football-type jersey. good on her! i didn't watch most of the show since there wasn't much that i was interested in seeing. i taped it (for janet) ince i was at work tonight. is there anything that i should watch for...besides j, i mean! | |

I taped it until 10 pm (because I thought surely it wasn't going to last 3 hrs), but came home around 10:30 to see it was still going!
I caught the tail end of Rick James's saying "I'm Rick James, Bitch!" and the rest of the show, but didn't tape it (my tape ran out). Not to worry because knowing BET they're going to air it fifty-'leven mo' times!!!

Janet's energy seemed off to me - her performance on Leno was much better than last night's but still she did her thing.
As a fan, I hate to see how sad and guarded she looks whenever the press gets near her. The brief snips of an afterparty shown on one of the entertainment shows show her smiling and enjoying herself. I hope that she bounces back from this (her, Mariah & Whitney). | |

Well Damita Jo has shifted over a million copies - with a complete industry/radio backlash (when something like All Nite (Don't Stop) can't crack multi-format, you know something's wrong) that's hardly shabby. Also considering 2004 marks her 20th year in the business (everyone notices that about Madonna, but seems to have selective memory when it comes to Janet's staying power), sales like that are an accomplishment indeed. Janet's performance was just that... "a performance"
She is one of the last true entertainers. Shouldn't we value and appreciate that in an age of lackluster music and artists? Who else really put on a performance on the BET awards?? Usher. Ludacris, Lloyd banks, Jay z?? Why is it that Janet is being made an example of. What if Madonna had shown her breast at the superbowl. Do u think that a white breast would have caused as much outrage, I think not. America was outraged becoz just 50 yrs ago a black woman pulling a so-called "stunt" like this would have been lynched. Nobody seems 2 remember that during her superbowl half time per4mance of rhythm nation, the word's injustice & racism were be shouted out in protest. Isn't it ironic...looking back. Isn't it amazing that janet has already hit PLATINUM w/ damita jo...even w/ a right wing agenda to bring her down! I think we should all be singin her praises. and for the record, i don't pay attention to critics either. they are usually just failed filmmakers, musicians, etc. | |
