The premise for the new OutKast flick . . . Sound familiar?

In a Prohibition-era speakeasy, a manager-performer (Big Boi) and his piano player (André 3000) fight off gangsters looking to take over their business.

Not completely comparable to a past "musical," but if Kristin Scott-Thomas appears in this one, I'm through.

I thought the storyline was supposed to have Andre falling in love with a white girl against her family's wishes? Now that would sound more like UTCM to me. hmmm

Yeah, but verily I assure you, Dre3K will have a love interest and fake his way through a romantic piano ballad.

Perhaps, but Dre actually plays the piano quite well (for someone who only plays by ear). I've seen some footage of him in the studio when he was laying down the foundation for "Stankonia (Stanklove)" on the piano and it sounded quite nice. thumbs up!

I saw some of that footage on Outkast: driven on VH1. I'd love to see more of it. Shit, the boy sang in the church choir when he was a kid, so technically, he was a singer before he was a rapper anyway.

Kinda...Dre came up with the melodies of songs from The Love Below, but had the seasoned keyboardist, Kevin Kendricks, play the more intricate keyboard parts (ie. piano parts on "Love/Hater" and "Roses"). Dre is infact playing all keyboards on songs like "She Lives In My Lap" and "Dracula's Wedding"

2 fish out of water, relatively speaking, facing powerful, evil, rich forces and a love story likely thrown in for good measure. Differences and similarities aside, I was joking.
