I like Soul finger from their earlier days, and you can add Sam & Dave's " Hold on, I'm coming " since they were the backing band. I also like Anticipation, freaky behavior, and sex-O-matic. Jeux Sans Frontiers

She Talks to Me with Her Body Shine (Rip off on EWF's "on your face" but it's still tight) Move Your Boogie Body Your Place or Mine (very underrated Bar-Kay jam) Boogie Body Land Hit and Run Night Crusin Dirty Dancer Propositions (Crazy, hyped Bar Kays.. love it!) many many more. I was a total Bar-Kays nut during the late 70's and 80's *edit* Can't believe I left off "Traffic Jammer" [This message was edited Tue Jun 29 10:18:23 2004 by intha916] Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

I love the Bar Kays, but I gotta admit, many of their songs are rip-offs of other songs from other artists.I wonder if they ever got sued? LOL.
Their 1984 hit "Freakshow On The Dancefloor" sounds suspiciously like Midnight Star's 1983 hit "No Parking On The Dancefloor". Their 1984 hit "Dirty Dancer" borrows the same synth line from Michael Jackson's 1982 hit "Billie Jean". Their 1984 song "Dance,Party,Etc" is a blatant rip-off of Prince's 1982 song "DMSR". They have another song from the 70s (can't remember the name) that sounds alot like EW&F's "Shining Star",it even starts out the same way. Their late-1981 hit "Freaky Behavior" sounds like a "cousin" of Rick James' "Super Freak".It doesn't sound exactly like Rick's song, but it borrows many of the same elements (the outer-space sounding synths...the overall "New Wave" feel...and the singalong bridge that goes "Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh",which is reminiscent of the Temptations' cameo on "Super Freak".

Yep, they were so derivative that they were like a band of Lenny Kravitzs, only they came up with so many funky slamdowns that it was impossible not to be sucked in. It was also amazing how many people's sounds they morphed, from Earth, Wind and Fire and the Ohio Players to Rick James, Prince and Midnight Starr. Their superb musicianship and Larry Dotson's excellent vocals somehow carried them through it all. They never got their big crossover break, but Freakshow on the Dancefloor came close.
