Actually, Clare's string arrangements are all over the "Rufus featuring Chaka Khan" records (their original drummer, Andre Fischer, is Clare's nephew),
especially albums like Ask Rufus, and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan ( which also features "Sweet Thing", a Prince favorite), also Street Player...Check out tunes like "Little Boy Blue", "Egyptian Song", "Destiny", and "Earth Song"...he's also done individual tracks for everyone from Robert Palmer, to the Jacksons("Push Me Away", on the album, Destiny), to Natalie Cole, to neo-soul artist Brigette McWilliams(" Morning", on the album Too Much Woman)...the arrangements on these albums are similar in sound to the charts he does for Prince...(actually, his son Brent arranges just like his old man--If you check out Toni Braxton's Christmas album, particularly the instrumental and vocal versions of " Snowflakes Of Love", you'll hear that trademark string sound...both Father and son do arrangements on that album)... I have a record called "Clare Fischer with strings -featuring Donald Byrd , trumpet"- I like it, but the arrangements are pretty straightforward-- it was done early in his career before those trademark swirling strings he's known for now There is Another one called America the Beautiful that's a little closer...and I also have a couple of his albums where he's playing piano with small combos--these are in more of a latin jazz type setting...but it seems to be hard to find many of his own albums that feature his string and horn arrangements - most of the albums that are in print feature his jazz piano combos...
