There seems to be a lot of comebacks this year......

Let's see, there's Prince, George Michael, Morrissey, Wilson Phillips, Teena Marie, The Cure, Anita Baker, Tears For Fears, Duran Duran, etc.

What does everyone think of this? Is this a sign of the apocalypse? eek

Tears For Fears Ditched Before ComebackBritish rockers Tears For Fears are devastated that their record company has dumped them just before they release their eagerly-awaited comeback album.

The '80s duo - Curt Smith and Roland Orzabel - were looking forward to releasing 'Everybody Loves a Happy Ending' when Arista Records decided to ditch the band - the pair still hopes to release the disc.

Smith defensively explains, "The album is slated for release in the U.S. on September 14 and "Call Me Mellow" is starting to be serviced to radio in the U.S."

Interesting. The same thing happened to Hall and Oates in 1996 when they recorded a new album 'Marigold Sky' for Arista Records. At the last minute,Arista ditched the band, forcing them to release the album independently in 1997.In the early 90s,they had signed a new contract with Sony, but they were once again ditched before any CD could be released. It seems that major record companies are scared to work with aging artists who are long past their "heyday".
